"'Supervision', not 'probation'"
Jerrance Howard was given "supervision" for marijuana possession last summer,
which allows the case to be dismissed with no conviction on the defendant's record
upon successful completion of the prescribed time, in this case six months.
The case against Howard was dismissed Friday. A headline in Thursday's editions was incorrect.
I know some will say it is a small point, and the PJS treats it as such with a tiny little "Correction" buried deep off the front page..
But they correct their report that Howard was convicted and given probation - and state that in reality the charges were not pursued,
he was instead offered court supervision with the charges to be dismissed when supervision completed, and that occurred yesterday.
This is a significant difference since no record of the conviction will be recorded.
All the Kansas newspapers went with the erroneous "probation" story that they were tipped off to...so they need to post corrections as well..
will someone please tip off those guys about their responsibility to correct the story?
