  • Final: Loyola 58 Bradley 53

Bradley's next game is Sunday, Feb. 15 at home vs. Loyola.
The game is at 1:00 PM, so we must be trying to compete with church services now.

The game will be available online at ESPN3.com.

Bradley is now 8-18 overall, and 3-10 in the MVC after their loss at Drake.
Loyola is 15-10, and 5-8 in the MVC after their win Wednesday night at home against SIU.

    MVC Standings-

Loyola's best player, Milton Doyle, has missed the last 7 games because of an ankle injury. Loyola has lost 5 of the 7 games he's missed, beating only SIU and Missouri State.
It is possible he could return for the game at Bradley.

By the way, does anyone know why this game was scheduled at 1:00 PM on a Sunday? It is such an unusual time, there must have been a reason. But it is not because of TV since there is no broadcast TV for this game, the Rivermen are playing in Fayetteville, North Carolina that day, and the only other event at the Civic Center that day is the "Elvis Lives" tribute show at 7:00 PM in the Theater. So there are no other competing events in the Arena. Why such an inconvenient time? Anyone got a guess?

I like a 1:00 starting time myself. Still daylight when the game is over and plenty of time to make a day out of it.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

It probably does not matter that much what time the game is played, these are two bad teams. The people who plan to attend will show up and the disinterested will not show up. It is not like the Wichita St game, which could draw more basketball fans. Watching bad basketball this season has been painful.

I was never complaining about the time, I was just wondering why the 1:00 PM time was chosen. It does not seem to have any advantage, and if anything makes it hard for a lot of people to attend, thus driving attendance down.

They scheduled the game for 1 pm Sunday so we could get used to playing at that time on a Sunday since that is the time of the Arch Madness championship game.

A lot of fans bring their families and kids...a Sunday 1pm game is a bad time - they must think the average family has nothing on their calendar Sunday's.

The only time the start of a Sunday game would effect attendance is if it was scheduled in the morning during church hours. People that want to go to the game will go to the game. This isn't exactly going to be a clash of titans on Sunday, so it will be easy to say the start time hurt attendance. People haven't exactly busted down the doors to get to a 7:30 game time, even on a Sunday night. It's not about the start time, it's about the product.

                  Game center-
The Bradley men's basketball team will open a 2-game home stand Sunday afternoon by hosting Missouri Valley Conference rival Loyola Chicago in a 1 p.m. tip at Carver Arena.

Loyola is the only team in the MVC that does not have a player in either the Top 10 scorers in the MVC or the Top 10 rebounders in the MVC.
Loyola also doesn't have anyone in the Top 10 of steals, blocks, or minutes played either..hard to see on paper how they've won 15 games and almost twice as many MVC games as us.
We have some strengths they do not have but we also tend to shoot so poorly.
Bradley still sits last in scoring, last in FG shooting, last in Free Throw shooting, and 9th in 3-pt FG shooting (we have passed Missouri State)

I'd have oped he could coach them up and win a few...
but, he doesn't think there's any chance we can play better?

What on earth have you seen that the rest of us haven't. I'm really surprise we've beat anybody. That must be coaching them up because the talent sure isn't there in the front court. Back court lacks a lot also. Especially when Bell and Grier are on the floor. Just telling it like I see it.
