Wessler should not be sticking his nose into this. He should not be trying to influence the decision. He is just supposed to report the decision ...not create it. And they moan Freedom of the press

I'll admit that was a strange piece of journalism -- about an incident last summer, with no mention of how this was "discovered" or why it is relevant or timely to be reported now.

Whether it's an obstacle or a brick wall to his coaching career will be determined with closer examination by decision-makers. But it's probably good that it came to the surface now rather than later, though I have to believe that -- Kirk or no Kirk -- this would have surfaced with any future employer doing a background check.

Like everyone else, I'm hoping that wise decisions are made to put the Bradley basketball program on a successful path. Maybe those decisions will include Jerrance, and I'd be excited about that. Maybe not. But facts are friends, not the enemy.

there is an interesting discussion that involves the PJS guys and the JL haters that labels all the Peoria Central people - Jerrance, Reynolds, Buesch, etc...
as people who crapped on Bradley in the past
So I think we see now why there is a segment of people who feign being Bradley fans but who really have hated anything to do with BU & the Central guys for more than a decade

Where is the discussion? Isn't Wessler a "Central guy" as well? Why would one Central guy go after another one?

Not trying to cause trouble but Wessler isn't a reporter. Reporters report the news. He's a Columnist. His job is to give his opinion and his thoughts on things.

I would say its interesting he was the one who broke the j. Howard / pot story...

Then why did a "columnist" just report the news on the front page about a minor misdemeanor news story from last July?
Then - tip off all the news organizations in Kansas - who even credited him for "reporting" it.
Nope - can't hide behind the "columnist" skirt - if he reports news, he is a reporter

T - I see in the article where they (the Kansas press) credited Wessler with writing it, but where do you see that he "tipped off ALL the news organizations in Kansas"?

They didn't just simultaneously come up with this "news" on the own. They got it from Kirk's report.

I don't know if you're trying to answer my question to Tornado or not, but what I asked was "where did he see that Wessler tipped off the Kansas press"?

Yes, that was an answer- by Kirk publishing it on the front page as if it was a major breaking news story, the people in Kansas are guaranteed to see it.

hey - the precedent is set...
a player got a drug arrest and was suspended four games - so hire Jerrance and have him sit for an exhibition and 3 games.

Original news stories go over the wires where it can be picked up by any other newspaper in the country

there are sports journalists/reporters currently writing for PJS that have marijuana arrests on public record, but I would never stoop to making the details public just to achieve my goals...

and when it comes to any reports about Bradley or anyone else who is a Bradley supporter - one should obviously never believe or give credibility to
anyone either in the newspaper or writing on a message board who has been fired, demoted, or spurned by the University and who have pathologic obsessions and grudges to satisfy.

btw the way - we need to hire a full time shooting coach - there's a whole team of guys west of here who shoot almost 50% from the arc that you can call..

Sorry - my interpretation of "tipped off the Kansas press" was that somebody had knowledge that Wessler called them or in some way directed them to his piece - by putting it out in cyberspace, he actually "tipped off" everybody with internet access in the entire world.

I realize I'm in the minority here but, I know Kirk as a person and I'm not going to change any of your opinions. That is not my purpose either. In my opinion ,most not all of these post lack a lot of validity. I can not say why Kirk chose to write about the Howard situation but I for one think it was important for it to be in print. What JH did was against the law that's why they call it an arrest. Until weed becomes legal in this state ,people will still be arrested when in possession. The Kirk I know is a die hard BU fan and a proud graduate of Peo. High. Do I think he did this to hurt Jerrance's chances of becoming the next Coach on the Hilltop? Maybe, maybe not, I don't know but it does level the playing field in that all involved parties will not be blindsided later on in the process. I have no knowledge of why Jerrance waited until Wed. to tell Coach Self but if I was to guess it probably was because Kirk or someone from the Star told JH the story was coming out in todays paper. Will this hurt Jerrances chances with the committee ,don't know but I have a feeling we will find out later.
