the only possible way this would be news now is if Kirk Wessler knows it is relevant to right now

News from 6 months ago is suddenly "breaking news" to the Peoria Journal Star? And some people still try to say the media doesn't have an agenda....

That being said, I do think this has to eliminate him. There are too many issues here now, and bringing him in is too big a risk. I like JH and think he'd do a good job, but sometimes you have to pay the piper.

I really think you can... Just after the rumors come out Wessler notices this?? Not when it occurred? In a paper that publishes the Police Report on a regular basis??

Not PJS' fault, but the timing clearly shows KW has no problem using the paper to accomplish tasks, at the expense of his credibility...

..but to make it a public issue right now - why?? It wasn't news then and he's paid his full debt to society.
He neither lives nor works in this city or state might might want to and this is terribly damaging to him and unnecessarily so...

Sorry. I deleted my message after I read the whole story. Still would like to have him, but he brought it on himself.

Wonder if Kirk Wessler knows that a certain Peorian, the candidate that HE FAVORED and even campaigned for back in 2002 for the BU head coaching job, had previously had an arrest for possession of an illegal substance?

Does the pjstar have a specific candidate in mind?

We are back to having the PJS editors trying to tell the Bradley BOT who they should and should not hire. Nothing ever changes in Peoria or at the PJS.

I really don't know whether Bradley should hire an individual like Howard or not but this should not be decided or influenced by a so-called Bradley fan.

We've already gotten to see what a Wessler backed coaching pick could do... It's what we have in front of us now. I certainly hope NO ONE will be influenced by him again in terms of assessing coaching talent.

I don't think this should take him out of the running for a coaching opportunity in 2015. Public opinion on marijuana is changing, becoming legal to a certain extent in some states and it looks like it will probably become legal nationally eventually. If this were 1995 it might be a bigger deal, but it would not deter me from putting my trust in Jerrance today.

If course it should take him out of the running. What kind if message is that for his team. What kind of message for his assistants? It doesn't mean he will never get another chance but now is not the time
He was a risky hire before and it's worse now

Get the AD hired and let him make the decision that he's paid to do. There others more qualified that will be available

What it says to any players or assistants is that you pay the price if you commit a crime. He complied with his parole with no incidents, and it is not like he is a serial offender.

This might make him more relateable for potential recruits and we can get some of the bigger names

Seriously though, what made him a risky hire before this news? Because he has no head coaching experience?

could be - I would like to know more...has he had issues in Kansas...or when he was in Texas?
but possession only -- hmmm......not a DUI, not the type of arrest that even gets a guy booked or jail time, not even illegal in another state...
