it is reported that Warren Jones is officially reinstated
Drake has been playing better lately, they are 3-1 in their last four games, with their only loss to UNI
They have suddenly begun shooting much better...
over the last four games they are 86-171 (50.3%) overall & 34-70 (48.6%) from the arc

Here we go again... I want a win at Drake more than anyone but.
the bar has been seriously lowered for our basketball program.
We should be seriously aiming to win out and get back to .500 not just get this one game and hope for the best.
But, the goal is now with six MVC games left - let's try to just beat out the play-in teams and finish 6th.
The entire column this morning discusses the possibilities of what we have to do to avoid the Thursday play-in.
Technically - every team except UNI & Wichita are still within reach - but we're aiming only to catch the team that's one game ahead of us and stay out of the Thursday round in St. Louis, but what they say might be true - especially if that's all the higher we're aiming...
also - later in the column Geno concedes we've played Josh Cunningham "..an exorbitant amount of minutes and I think he’s just wearing down."
..His body is beaten down. We’re limiting him in practice .. "
I think we need to preserve the health and strength of our main players - and finishing one game out of Thursday should be of slightly lesser importance.
We have five players averaging more than 28 minutes per game (Sutherland, Barnes, Bell, Jones, Cunningham) and we have 3 of the top ten in MVC play in mpg.

The amount of playing time for freshmen is much more different the playing time for the other players. It is as much mental as it is physical. In high school they just play, for the most part, on weekends. In college you have two to three games a week. Then throw in travel, missing classes and the in depth preparation for multiple opponents, and it came become very wearing on a first year player. Anybody that has played at this level knows exactly what I'm saying. For players that are sophomores, juniors and seniors it is not as wearing, since they have the experience of going through it. It is similar to what rookies in the NBA experience when they play 82 games as opposed to 30 or so in college.
I believe with upperclassmen, the amount of minutes per game is grossly overstated. There are media timeouts every four minutes of all games, regardless if it's televised or not. In addition, players now have an opportunity to catch their breath during their teams allotted time outs and also during the reviewing of plays. Before the media timeouts and reviewing of plays, minutes were not tracked as part of the stats in college basketball.
It has as much to do with the change of coaching styles as anything.
Similar to baseball, when pitchers use to throw the entire game, as opposed to now, where they are taken out after 6 innings to preserve them. There seem to be just as many, if not more, arm injuries with less pitches being thrown.

Nate Wells is starting...yayyyyy!
Warren Jones dressed & available but does not start
Josh Cunningham starts - but Coach Ford said in pregame interview that minutes will be limited in 1st half so as to avoid a replay of a halftime asthma attack
Other starters - Tramique Sutherland, Omari Grier, Auston Barnes
Drake a 2 pt favorite at game time
