Drake picks up yet another win sending SIU into the basement with us
Drake 63 - SIU 61
Beane had a nice night with 22 but Drake shoots the lights out from the arc 13-23 (57%)
With 12 minutes to go Loyola leads at Missouri State by 10
Looking like two teams have separated themselves downward into solid Thursday night slots (us & SIU)
and Drake, Missouri State, Loyola, & maybe even Evansville in a couple more games will be fighting it out
to claim those other two slots for the extra playing time Thursday night.

All 3 Valley games went down to the wire. The Drake/SIU game had 15 lead changes and 9 ties as the game went back and forth. 2 FT's by Jordan Cameron gave SIU a 61-60 lead with 35 seconds left. Drake missed a jumper that Caroline rebounded and he got fouled. This time Cameron missed both FT's. Drake rebounded and held onto ball until Chris Caird made a 3 with 2.9 seconds left to give the Bulldogs the lead. Anthony Beane missed a 3 pointer at the buzzer. Reed Timmer led Drake with 19 and Caird and Gary Ricks Jr. both had 12 points, all from 3 point land. Beane led SIU with 22 points, making 6 3's.
Loyola, missing their 2 best players, went on the road and beat Missouri State 53-50. Loyola led most of the game and were leading 38-23 when MSU went on a 21-4 run for the next 9 minutes to lead by 2. Loyola went back up by 5 and MSU could never get back the lead. The Bears cut it to 1 twice during the last minute, including a short shot with 10 seconds left. The Ramblers broke the Bears full court press for a break away layup for a 53-50 lead. The Bears shot a 3 at the buzzer but all it drew was iron. The win snapped a 5 game losing streak for Loyola. Earl Patterson and Ben Richardson and Ben Richardson each had 12 for Loyola while Gavin Thurman had 15 for MSU.

A fourth-year coach in the MVC had his team projected to finish as high as third in the league this season. Instead, they are languishing near the bottom, home crowds are sparse, and last night suffered an embarrassing home loss to a weak conference foe.
Sounds like Geno, but it is Paul Lusk at Missouri State. Has anyone heard -- is his seat as hot as Geno's? Are they talking in Springfield of turning the page (or already having turned the page, as here), or staying the course?
Lusk is a hero at my high school, Trenton-Wesclin, so I've followed his career.Yajusneverno!

There is a growing portion of the Missouri State fan base that is starting to clamor for a change. MSU was picked 3rd in the preseason poll, just behind WSU and UNI.
There are numerous threads on their fan message board about firing Lusk. Here is the latest one started just last night after Missouri State lost at home to a severely weakened Loyola team missing their 2 best players.
