Would like to ask Vent why he says the board wouldn't hire a black. Still think you are trying to stir things up. Don't just make a statement like that, tell us why.

My choices are Chris Reynolds for A.D. and Jerrance Howard for head Coach if either position opens up.

        New coach

I am a 100% believer that Jerrance Howard as coach and Chris Reynolds as AD would be terrific and would put us back on track as a super upper mid major program! My only concern is the Board of Trustees who have demonstrated an ability to screw up a2 car funeral.

I would also give this guy a call and see if he'd be interested...
He is one of the top guys in the UW Athletic Dept.
Check him out - he's been a huge success everywhere he's been, and is an Illinois native.

but there are other great, energetic, capable candidates - and all one would have to do is call any of the successful schools or their athletic heads and ask for names...

the last time we selected an AD - we fired one before even beginning a search and placed Virnette House-Browning as interim AD.
Then when Dr. Cross was hired he promised Bradley would achieve "national distinction"...and Dr. Glasser said he was chosen "after an intensive nationwide search".
However there was never a mention locally of how the search was conducted but in one of the Illini articles it said we used Parker Search Firm..

I agree Wiz. Although there are a lot of good candidates for both positions, it would be nice to have people from the region, and those guys know the history of Bradley, even though they went to school elsewhere.

I wasn't trying to stir anything up. It was just a gut feeling. I regret expressing it. I have no inside information, as many other people have on this board, as I am not close to or affiliated with the university in any way. If I have offended you or others on this message board I apologize. That was not my intent.

I have heard that the Board of Trustees are meeting tomorrow. Can anyone verify that rumor?

You didn't offend me. Just wondered why you thought that was the case. 2 hires ago I think a trustee resigned, or threatened to I think, because his choice wasn't hired.

it is not a rumor - it s well established...
the full Board had scheduled meetings BOTH today & tomorrow

issues surrounding racially slanted questions and accusations did indeed cause one member to resign but he later apologized and recanted his prior statements.
It also caused multiple other head coaching candidates to withdraw their names from consideration well into the decision process.

There was a promise in last week's Scout that the Feb.6 edition would have more on the Board meetings and hiring situation & salary & budget information.

The last two hiring processes have been totally mishandled by the administration. I know of one person that personally went through the interview process. He stated how the new coach was pre determined when he went through his interview at Bradley and it was obvious during his interview. As he was arriving for his interview another candidate was leaving his interview and expressed the same sentiment in the hallway. At least one of the candidates that experienced the interview process, got even when they beat BU last Wednesday.

Lets hope when the next interview for a basketball coach at BU comes around, different people are involved with the decision making process. It was an embarrassment for BU and they've had just about enough of that lately.

The last hiring process might have been mishandled, but then we probably shouldn't have been looking for a new coach anyway.

                          Hiring the new President

The BU Scout reported that Doug Stewart said the BOT hoped to have a new President by August. iMO this is far too slow....Seven months! The largest corporations can find new Presidents or CEOs much faster than this.
Does this mean we wait before hiring a new AD? And then more waiting to hire a new BB coach. And hiring a new coach after August means no recruiting and no one around to council players who are disenchanted and may leave.

I think they will have a new AD fairly soon....who then should hire a coach...

It would be nice to have this all go in proper order but I don't see how it can now. You can hire an AD without a Prez.....but I don't think you can(or should) hire a coach without an AD

                              New Coach

Lefty...I hope you are correct. What you say makes sense however, I don' have much confidence that the BOT will do anything that makes sense.
Let's hope that MC is gone very soon, and Geno is out at seasons end, then anew AD is hired by about April and he can then hire a new coach.

But here's what makes him far, far different and better than anyone else hired from out east lately...
He is a Peoria native (actually East Peoria, but who's counting), and a Bradley grad and ex-Bradley basketball player.
He would come vouched for by everyone, from Dewey to Molinari...
So throw the guy's name in...

Also - while we are at it....I have four MORE names for the AD list
How about asking [B][U]Jim Molinari, Dick Versace, Chuck Buescher, and/or Dewey Kalmer
Four great names but I would bet there would be Zero interest from any of them. Dewey would NEVER leave the Villages for that or any job. He absolutely loves it down there in what he calls "Heavens waiting room" . Mo has some working years left and maybe would be interested but can't see Buesh or DV going back to work.
