In full disclosure I was part of Dewey's 93 team and that had several of us out drinking during a conference weekend against ISU where we were suspended afterwards. Closing Sullys was a fairly regular occurrence (You can insert joke about baseball players not being athletes if you wish )

Dewey always told us he would give us enough rope to hang ourselves with....and that rope got a lot shorter for the remainder of the season. It also galvanized us where we swept Creighton the next weekend. And although the punishment was handled internally it made the newspapers the next day. Some may say that loss to ISU on Sunday kept us from getting an NCAA bid (We ended up 40-16)....but in truth it was probably a midweek loss to Illinois Weslyan that sealed our fate more than that conference game.

Now there were no laws broken in the incident above. Maybe university rules as a whole were different back them....I'm just sharing my personal experience. Were there athletes drinking. There were. Were there athletes not drinking....sure there were. I was pretty straight and narrow in high school and if the current rules were in place in 25 years ago (ouch, it hurts to say that) then maybe my social life at BU would have had a minimum of alcohol consumption. Who knows?
I remember when alcohol was not allowed on campus. That was back in the early 50's. My gosh...we were all a bunch of sinners that snuck a sip now and then. Most of us sinners turned out to be decent and successful people as we went on in life. In fact the university even likes our financial donations. Don't give me that crap about turning a kid into a criminal that goes to a strip joint late at night. Was it wrong? No question about it...but my goodness, I don't think that the fabric of our society is going to fall apart due to it. Let's let the university people handle it. Yes it was a poor decision and thanks to social media everybody knows about it. Back in the late 60's, nobody knew that a star player from the basketball team was absent from the team photo in the program, because he was in jail that day for being busted for pot.

His crime wasn't just going to a strip joint late at night.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

That rotation is not looking good.

A precedent was previously set by Geno & Dr. Cross - that if there are multiple players to be suspended - then they don't all have to necessarily be suspended at the same time... At the beginning of 2012-13 - Geno had four players at once to suspend for violation of team rules, but he didn't suspend them all together. He suspended two players in one game then the other two in the next game.
In other words - he let two players play even while deserving a suspension because he didn't want to get caught too short of players.

If they have already set that precedent then why not follow the same plan here?

Good point, however it doesn't matter - we're going to lose the game no matter who plays. Really, think about it - after the Drake fiasco, how many people (before any potential suspensions) would've given us much of a chance to win this game anyway?

Awesome! We made in on ESPN.com

Bradley basketball player Warren Jones has been arrested at a strip club on misdemeanor charges of obstruction of identification and criminal trespass.

Without using the excuse of injuries I would defend Jim because 1. His players had a good GPA and graduated also. 2. He took us further in modern basketball times than any other coach. I agree with hypocrisy of his situation vs now. They should be all over Geno and Cross! You can have a bad year but this will be 3 out of 4 years we've lost 20 or more games and the 4yr we lost 17 games. Way past time to move on!

Oh no! They're going to be bad at basketball.

after a substantial delay - now that the playing season is over, Warren Jones has finally been issued a court date - March 26, 1:30pm for his initial hearing to be read charges.

Likewise Ka'Darryl Bell, but Bell's charges are a little more than was reported - he is charged with false ID charges plus possession of alcohol by a minor - while apparently there will be no charges filed against Grier - as I suspect it would be hard to prove he willingly and knowingly allowed the others to use his ID.

both Warren Jones & Ka'Darryl Bell were found guilty by the judge at their hearings yesterday-
the judge entered the conviction "ex parte" (apparently neither were present) and both cases were referred to the "Compliance Officer" - so I suspect this represents a request for deferred prosecution and they will be assigned a followup in court on supervision.
