if you wanna see the textbook definition of hung up, paranoid, obsessive, and fixated ... the go to that thread over on the other board where a few people seem to like to post their rants..
and search the thread for the terms "jimmy", or "Jim" or "Les"...

Then prepare yourself for about 400 to 500 times that someone over there in that ONE SINGLE THREAD brings up the very person you accuse me of being fixated on...

If you want to gripe about someone bringing up Jim Les, then go there and start with those people who truly have some really weird, pathological, and intense pathological hatred or obsession with the guy - and get back to me later when you stop gagging with laughter about it.

oh, and one more hilarious thing - I have never, ever posted in that thread despite a hundred times one of those paranoid posters irrationally accuses someone else of being me. Gotta wonder if they also think I am under their beds at night or flying the black helicopters they see every day....
so don't talk to me about bringing up anyone's name when your buds are the motherlode of all paranoia

Maybe the key to a good program is knowing it's time to change direction. I grew up with Versace, as much as we all liked him he wanted to move on and fry bigger fish anyway, and he did. Albeck let Hersey do his thing, kinda of fun to watch. I was never a big fan of defense, but a little would have helped. Molinari did what he did, I never enjoyed his brand of ball, but had a certain amount of success. Les brought renewed excitement to a stale program, fell on hard times, deserved a bit more time and more support. Geno has been given all the time and money one can ask for and has failed, so with the change, I think the board will do what's right for the program and move on from Geno. Like the heads of any good program would do. If that doesn't happen then we can go back to the arguing about who should have been fired and what not.

Great Post. Great summary of my experience as a fan as well.

          Time:
Geno has now had four years and the program is still in ruins, battling for last place, no real hope in sight, no incoming recruits or even decent prospects, and even personnel issues with ineligible players & arrests.
REMEMBER - the former coach got hammered within his first TWO seasons for all these things and the media gurus (Kirk Wessler) now openly admits he soured on Les in year-two and began the drumroll to get him fired BEFORE the end of his 2nd season.
AND yet by four years he was playing for the Elite Eight!!!!
So - yes - Geno's already had DOUBLE the time and so the media needs to stop putting lipstick on a pig.

          Money:
Well this is a no brainer -
first Geno is being paid virtually DOUBLE the money to bring Bradley back to respectability - and yet we are a national laughingstock and people are equating Bradley now with "perennial bottom-dweller".
Add to that the Athletic Department budget and expenditures have MORE THAN DOUBLED in the last 4 years - going from $2 mil to over $7 mil - so dontcha think with all those extra resources we ought to be getting something more out of it?

          Facilities:
Again - no brainer - for most of JL's time here the players had to work out in Haussler and practice in the old Fieldhouse. The facilities were out of the 1950's - but now it's totally different!
We have facilities that recruits have frequently said are on par with BIG TEN and other BCS schools.
The awe-effect of what we have now compared to what we had for the last coach is not only more than DOUBLED - it's probably FOUR or FIVE FOLD!

so yes - the people in the Athletic Department MUST be accountable given the degree of what they have been given. Especially considering how much they've been able to wrangle the clueless board into paying themselves to produce success!
If people wanna rip on 4th place, Sweet Sixteen, and 20-win seasons - all given enough time, money, facilites - in fact more than DOUBLE what we've had in the past - then be consistent and let's clean house & get better people in here and do it right.

"Time to turn the page" in the title of this column is best explained by a line about halfway down the page...

"The program is in the dumper, and there’s no reason to care about this season —
or future seasons — until substantive changes are made.
            Well, change is coming."

..So - that is pretty bold, but that was written a week and a half ago - and really little or no further comment from Kirk Wessler on this subject.
Has he heard more from the "multiple sources" and "core group of Bradley supporters" that he quotes several times?....Will we get an update? Maybe the meetings later this week? Is anyone else hearing what I am hearing or anything else?

No more current news on BU MBB?

Perhaps they are not "turning the page" on BU MBB, but burying it - literally and figuratively.

While in the theme of Wessler's turning the page on Bradley Basketball let's hope
the Journal Star turns the page on Wessler and Reynolds. Make a clean sweep -
JG -MC -GF -KW and DR, that would be hitting one out of the park. A fresh start in all areas that pertain to Bradley Basketball.

Why?...they win awards for what they do....others than this board must think they do a good job

Do you think they have been fair, impartial, and consistent in their reporting of Bradley in the last 3 or 4 years?

I don't have any problem with what they have written DC....like I said I read it an move on. I don't read between the lines and don't make a big deal out of it either way.

But the reality is they just don't write about BU....they do write about other sports, teams,etc..........

You guys take it personal.......and that's fine I guess.....even when Theobald was blasting Mo, I didn't take it personal because he was a good friend of mine........although I wasn't on a message board either back then

I don't see anyone taking it personal - nobody's trying to egg KW's car or knock his mailbox down in retaliation -

but the clear difference in reporting is fair game for discussion...
Remember JL had only one significant player arrest with mugshots, staying in jail overnite, etc - yet it dominated headlines for weeks & weeks.
The Geno era is only 1/3 of what JL was here and already has 3-4 such major player arrests (one never even got mentioned in the paper) ...and nobody's published even one police report nor has there been even one "renegade" editorial written, and the editorial position "soured on Les" within his 2nd year and the Sports Editor admits he "dropped a critical hammer" on JL before his 2nd year was up (KW's own words).

People can see what they want but you can't make up facts. There is a dramatic difference in reporting.

One doesn't have to do anything physical in order to make something personal.....that's what message boards are for

It's kind of like a message board though....if you don't like what's written you don't have to read it.........and also like I said before BU isn't the only thing they write about

I might add....that it's no secret on the relationship between the media(and others) and Les.......I haven't heard anyone say they didn't like Geno.....I can't say the same was said about Les........that's just the way it was.

I'm not knocking Les here either. He went about things differently and it rubbed some the wrong way and others seem to love it....

Only ones I know who didn't like JL were the ones who wanted someone else to be hired instead of JL. Had him speak several years at a club I belong to and he was always well liked by our members. Plus he's a good Sox fan.
What part of illegal don't you understand?
