Hard not to like Geno, but he should have never had to be hired in the first place.

I haven't changed my tune on all this from the get go??¦.when we hire the next coach he should get 3-4 years to get it in the right direction as well.
I also haven't talked to anyone who doesn't think it's time??¦other than maybe getting a new AD in place first to hire a new coach

Some coaches can win games with their coaching, some are great recruiters and win games with exceptional talent. It was obvious to some after the first year or two that this coach does neither.
I don't know that is so unusual. Kirk Wessler admits he "soured on Jim Les in year two", but the PJ Star was already writing hit pieces before he ever coached a game.

I think some people think that just because we notice how bad Bradley has done under Geno Ford -
that it means people are against him or rooting against him.
This couldn't be further from the truth...
Most of us are there at every game no matter who the coach is and we are rooting vigorously and loudly for a win!
We want to win - we are rooting 100% for Geno
But when we talk about or even point out his lack of success, lack of winning - simple observable and provable facts-
then start the ad hominem attacks by one fan against another as if we are rooting against Bradley.
Time to set the record straight...
I have never heard even one single time nor one single person ever say they hoped Bradley did bad under Geno
or that they were rooting against him or doing anything except rooting for a WIN.
** however, I did several times in 2011 hear fans who claimed to be Bradley fans - some were season ticket holders - and they stated unequivocally that they were rooting against Jim Les - hoping he'd lose quickly in St. Louis so it would raise the prospects of firing.
That is the only time I have ever heard anyone say they rooted against their own team - and it was the anti-JL people - not anyone currently.

As far as this team having any talent, I believe their is more talent on this team then what they have showed to this point, I would blame the coaching for that. In fact a prominent local HS coach was sitting a few rows behind us last night and person sitting close to me went and talked to him. He asked what he thought and he said pathetic. Then was asked about talent and he said this team has plenty of talent but didn't really want to get into it beside that & I couldn't blame him for not wanting to say much.
So, yes, this team has talent but it isn't being used properly. I watched the game last night and can't remember 1 real good screen for a shooter to get a shot off. MST's D didn't really do anything special except play an easy zone D against us and it almost worked.

So DC, time for a total housekeeping?
Are you wanting PJS to find a different beat writer for BU too?
Or do you think KW will change his spots if BU goes in a new direction
and there is some more space between JL and a new head coach?
Along the lines of revisionist history, I can remember being oh so frustrated with the previous regime's appahelp rent offensive strategy: high weave and chuck a three, or, head down and drive toward basket... Defensive strategy, with no true defensive presence in the middle, man to man or zone help defense, which never helped.
JL must have had better (shooting) players cause the strategies weren't all that much better...BUilding for the Future

Is this "Ask DC Time"- I think I have posted more opinions here than anyone else, but if you want more, I'll oblige. I am not in favor of housekeeping, but I do believe in housecleaning.
I think it is time for a clean sweep at Bradley, and I am not alone. It seems the Bradley Trustees think so, too.
I don't know what Kirk Wessler's opinion is, because he managed to write his entire column and make it all about "Bradley fans' attitude", "They have voted", "Their verdict", the "uproar in the fan base", "a core group of Bradley supporters...plan", and "Bradley fans..united passion".
He never once dared give us his opinion, which is so unusual for him that one has to believe he does not agree with any of what he wrote.
As far as what the PJS does, that is their business. I have no horse in that race, so I don't care. I do not subscribe or read the PJ Star.
And since you brought up the last coach (again), I will say it is not about who the coach is. I merely want a winning team, something we have had for most of Bradley's 112 year history, but which is long gone now. I would also like to see other sports winning. But can anyone name anything significant won by any coaches that have been hired by the current AD? In fact, the coaches he has fired all seem to be doing a lot better than the ones he has hired.
Are you looking forward to spring training AZ?

I would not fire any coach right now...I believe it would hurt and draw unnecessary criticism & scrutiny even at the national level...
Finish out the season & school year, then examine each coach individually..
-Soccer & XC - don't touch
-mbasketball, wbasketball and baseball all have coaches that have either been signed or extended 3 yrs or so into the future -- unfortunately bad moves and we might have to live with those decisions for another year then re-evaluate again...
Personally - I'd see how Geno, Mike Brooks, Elvis finish out 2014-2015 - each can yet prove themselves with a great run between now & May
If positive - try one more year -- if negative - have some serious talks..
-all the rest of the sports - VB, tennis, golf...they all need some serious consideration but none should be safe from a move and certainly NONE should be given extensions as the Board President, & AD have unfortunately done elsewhere recently.
Most of all right now - we need a dynamic, personable, AD who will BUILD the fan base, be a help in fund raising, and energize his entire department and make it a GREAT place to work - so that when we put out the call to hire a coach, we get gobs of good candidates who WANT the job - not a bunch who wouldn't take the job even if it doubles their salaries.

How many times do you and T bring up JL in every post that deals with BU's struggles since he was let go? I don't see you challenging any one who continues to bring up JL in some nostalgic post. Hypocritical? I didn't start the JL comparisons in this thread either. I know many here still have a man crush on who apparently was the best BU coach in history, totally unjustifiably let go due to years of player injuries. I only point out the good old days, while much much better than today, weren't all that great if you prize league success.
I don't deny the greatness of the historic NCAA run that happened mid term and wasn't seen again ( ever) in the MVC.
I have stated my opinion here, not more than many others.. I was a JL fan until years 6-7-8-9. I stated BU could not be faulted for trying to get over the MVC hump with a new coach. BU was not able to recruit bigs that made a difference in the LH of the JL era and had limited success with 4 guard attack.
Obviously GF was not the answer and the Prez and AD are/will be answering for their decisions.
Time for everyone to move on to next stage of BU MBB.
I just didn't see, and don't see, the same things some people remember or profess about the previous Coach.
I know where you stand DC as we shared our thoughts at Spring Training last year. I hope to continue the discussion this coming spring!
PS sorry for my earlier grammatical faux paux about maids. Typing on my smart phone is hard to do with big fingers and bad eyes!
PPS What would a sports forum be without opposing trains of thought? BORING!!
I don't rag against anyone with an opposing view on JL and hope I would be afforded the same. As UFO observers who get lampooned by others say, I know (and remember) what I saw in years 6-7-8-9.
PPPS I wasn't defending KW, GF or JG. Just thought you may have wanted to run the table due you your dislike of KW's coverage of BU in the last 14 years! :-)
Or perhaps you aren't aware yet of my snide, sarcastic, often over the top, inciting, and often irritating style of posting on bf.com? :-)BUilding for the Future

Actually, I did not bring Jim Les into this issue either. Kirk Wessler did when he intentionally put in his statement about "It didn’t change Bradley fans’ attitude about eight years of declining performance...". You know he did that with the intent of taking a shot at a coach who we know he never liked, and has been gone 4 years now.
His entire column was otherwise about the current administration, and the current coach, so why take a gratuitous shot at the previous coach. Why not just make this about the current regime?
