Kirk says Bradley has had 8 years of declining performance. Does he really think this team would be competitive at full strength with no injuries? Doesn't he believe the previous teams would have been much more competitive at full strength. The players that were injured the years before were much more talented than the ones injured the last couple of years. What part of illegal don't you understand?

8 years ago we had a sub-40 RPI, 22 wins, some NIT success, plus players who could shoot, many of whom would go on to 1000 point careers, some key wins over very good teams, a 3-0 record over the combined BIG EAST & BIG 12, SELLOUTS, home crowds of 10,000 all the time, and VERY happy fans for the most part..
Even as late as 5 years ago - many of those things were still present...
I refuse to accept this cheap effort to continue to try to find a way to hang the horrible current situation on something back in 2008-2009 (clearly a dishonest effort to blame KK & JL) when the crowds of 2000-3000, the 250 (and even 300) plus RPI's the horrible SOS, the thousands of fans giving up their season tickets & openly vocalizing their feelings about the horrible state of BU basketball, the entire roster of players who can't score or aren't eligible, the open scholarships we can't even give away, and the ONLY run EVER of 4 (and probably 5) consecutive Thursday nite appearances - indeed probably four straight Thursday night EXITS in the history of Bradley basketball.
Nope - as often as someone tries unfairly to blame guys who gave Bradley a STRONG and admirable national standing (remember, our former AD won TWO National AD-of-theYear awards) - for this current embarrassment and national laughingstock of a program we have now - then I will speak out to correct their dishonesty.

but here are your FACTS - not just subjective stuff...
The two years before Geno - 16-15, 12-20, RPI's 105-233, SOS 64-145, Key wins: University of Illinois, UNI (24-8 ), Wichita State (24-9), Creighton, USC, Creighton again
The two years after Geno -- 7-25, 12-20, RPI's 264-191, SOS 90-177, Key wins: maybe UNI (18-14), InSU (17-14) - not real impressive
...I'd say the two years Geno had a bunch of JL's players were clearly his BEST two years but were still miserable and have gone VERY MUCH downhill from there

Also, the next 3 teams (2007-08, 2008-09, and 2009-10) had winning records, averaged about 20 wins, and all had RPI's around 100 as recently as 2010, despite the numerous injuries to key players. To compare those teams to the abysmal state of the basketball program the last 4 seasons is ridiculous.
So again, Kirk is distorting the past just to try to deflect blame onto the previous coach and AD, because of his personal agenda and dislike for them.

Just looking at some number that show how historically bad things are and how it seems time for a change-
Even after winning the last game, Geno's record now stands at 44-76 with at least 11 games left this season. Barring a miraculous turnaround, it appears Bradley is headed for another 20-loss season.
The 76 losses in 3 1/2 years is way more losses than any previous coach ever accumulated in any 4-year period. No previous coach ever lost more than 67 games in any 4 year stretch in Bradley's history.
The 44-76 record is a .367 winning percentage, which is easily the worst winning percentage of any prior coach in Bradley's history that coached at least 1 season.
We are on track for the third 20-loss season in the last 4 years. No prior coach in Bradley's history has had three 20-loss seasons!
Dick Versace never had a single 20-loss season. Joe Stowell never had a single 20-loss season. Chuck Orsborn never had a single 20-loss season. Forddy Anderson never had a 20-loss season. And A.J. Robertson never had a single 20-loss season in his 26 seasons.
In the entire 108 years prior to the current regime, Bradley only had a total of six 20-loss seasons (Bob Vanatta 1, Stan Albeck 2, Jim Molinari 2, Jim Les 1).
And of course, no team in the history of the MVC has ever finished in the play-in round for 3 straight years, let alone 4 straight years.
