This season is done. There is no morale on this team. You can see it when they play. They have no bounce in their step, they have slumped shoulders, no smiles on the players faces, I could go on. As a result, this team may win at most, 3 more games this year.
Cross is history and probably already knows it. When was the last time you heard him say something publicly? If you had a future here, wouldn't you be saying something about the train wreck he is a part of and witnessing?
As soon as the money can be "secured" to buy out the remainder of Ford's contract, and it won't take long, he will be gone. I think it will be determined and he will know it before the season is over. It will not become public until BU loses in it's traditional play-in game at the Valley tournament, unless Ford says he is resigning to pursuit other interests.
It will be a very difficult to watch the remainder of the season as this team continues to spin out of control. For the first time in quite a while, the light at the end of the tunnel is no longer another train.

There will be very little info about that until an opening is official. As I mentioned in another thread, there have been a couple people already contacting people here in Peoria to let it be known they are interested and check into the situation. But those names won't be officially reported.

Letting go of Geno and Cross needs to happen as soon as the b-ball season is over if not sooner for Cross. You would hope that the current staff wouldn't encourage Josh to transfer. If Grier, Fields and Nate graduate would they be encouraged to go elsewhere so that it would open up more scholarships. Could this possibly serve as a rallying cry to get their act together and to try and save Geno's job? Maybe Geno, without the albatross around his neck, will actually coach the guys how he wants to.

Nothing has been decided regarding the coaches of the various sports. But since this whole thing was prompted by the abysmal performance of the athletic teams, and the massive loss of revenues and loss of fans and donors, it is a good presumption that some tough decisions will need to be made. So until we actually hear more specifics, we can only speculate, which is fair.
My speculation is that every coach of every sports will have their record scrutinized, and they will be allowed to make their case to keep their jobs. Some may even leave on their own, but of those that want to stay, there are 3 or 4 that come to mind that I have been very critical of, and that IMO do not deserve to keep their jobs.
Any coach that cannot come close to showing significant improvement, or record a winning record or conference success after 4 or 6 years with expanded recruiting budgets, and 2 or 3 times as much money for them and their assistants as we used to pay, should go.

Cross Country was just changed, and is coming off a fairly successful season.
So, IMO, CC and soccer are the only ones I'd take off the table.
Baseball, Volleyball, Men's basketball, and Women's basketball are the 4 that IMO need new leadership. These are 4 of the marquee sports at Bradley, and they are all abysmally bad and embarrassments to those who love and support Bradley.
I am not saying I'd change all the others, but they all need to be evaluated better than they have been, need close scrutiny going forward, and need to show improvement and not just stagnation or decline like almost every program has under the current regime.
Softball has never had a winning season under the current coach, so maybe another season or two to show some continued improvement or a winning record.
And IMO, women's basketball has taken a giant step backward and is in worse shape than men's, so that program is at least "on the clock".

nobody is 100% safe - but our soccer head coach is closest - but in the same breath, I know the board does not want to buy out many contracts...
After they get done buying out Dr. Glasser's contract and anyone else that might be soon to go...
they will have spent several million.....then each coach will likely be evaluated individually - but I strongly suspect a few will go within the next 2-3 years..

New Hires
It is my hope that our new president, AD, and men's bb coach are people that in some way have roots with either BU, or Peoria, or both. I think folks with a connection to our university and community have a deeper understanding what BU means to our town, especially the history of the men's bb program here in Peoria.
FWIW, I felt Coach McClain should have been hired over Coach Les, as I thought the local high school talent would have lined up to play for Coach McClain, but was satisfied with the Les hire, as he had history with us.
While less than thrilled with Coach Les' lack of valley championships and lack of local recruiting, I did not think he should have been let go. Unfortunately, my thoughts on his termination were correct.
My feelings have not changed regarding new hires for any position at our beloved Bradley University. If at all possible, let them have some connection to our town and university.
