Sent to Campus at 1:31 PM:
Dear Campus Community,
I am writing to let you know that after much reflection I have decided to retire from Bradley University on May 31, 2015 and I have informed Bradley’s Board of Trustees of my intention.
This difficult decision comes with many mixed feelings predicated upon my love of the institution, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the Peoria community which has been my home for the last eight years. But, I believe it is time for a leadership change to allow fresh eyes and new ideas to continue the excellent momentum of our institution.
We have progressed far in our academic excellence and in our vision of achieving national distinction as demonstrated by our advancing rankings in academic programs and for our university at large. Several new academic programs have been created to meet the needs of the 21st century and we will soon embark on diversifying our graduate program delivery to include online opportunities for a new population of students. We concluded the largest capital campaign in Bradley’s history and revitalized the campus with new construction and beautification efforts.
Bradley is a great University. Its potential is limitless and its future is ensured by the talented and innovative faculty and dedication of the staff, Board of Trustees, and our passionate alumni. You may trust that I will continue to devote my entire energies to support our strategic initiatives during my remaining time on the Hilltop and help assist a seamless transition to new leadership.
I want to thank all of my colleagues, friends, and the entire University community for their support over these eight years. I further want to thank the people of Peoria who embraced and welcomed me with open arms as a member of their wonderful community.
It has been an honor, privilege, and joy to have had the opportunity to serve as the 10th President of Bradley University.
With heartfelt gratitude and fondness,
Joanne K Glasser
President

The retirement is now being reported by WMBD but part of the report, as expected is the claim that she "launched" the fund raising and raised $160 mil & built the Ren-Col...
sadly, the truth gets completely lost here - the fund raising was LAUNCHED years before she got here (Timeline - and Prexy IX can readily confirm), the name "Renaissance Campaign" was even chosen before and 80% of the revenue was already pledged or raised (the Markin gift, the CAT gift, the Puterbaugh gift - ooops, that one was sent packing...)

amen - and every single step of this process was reported here first and in many cases was reported in precise detail even though elsewhere was being denied..
Anyway - I have also heard a very prominent Peorian does want the position - but he is no dummy - he's not going to publicly say so until he sees & hears a little more detail about what he's getting in to and what the terms are...
But by June we should start hearing his name officially - and just maybe the media might report his name unofficially if they read this message board
BTW - I have already seen some really stupid comments..but people are free to believe whatever fairy tale they want...
However - she is not stepping down on her own terms - this is a negotiated agreement so she can say she's choosing to leave but she had to give a little (was actually extended thru 2020) in order to get the right spin. But regardless - she was gonna be gone one way or the other and it was the fallout & fans' sentiment that got-r-dun
anyway - just another sad, sad day for Bradley athletics....the next in a long sequence of really sad days for BU fans since 2011...
one bad, bad move and bad hiring after another....but not just bad hires, bad policy, hastily & poorly thought out moves, and alienating
or truly ticking off many, many FINE, long-time, fans and big time donors....not the least of whom include Puterbaugh & Turner whose departure cost the University $6-10 million in gifts & pledges already made, but it didn't matter to some as long as their petty, vindictive egos were satisfied...
..and it's NOT eight years - it's Aug. 2007-Jan. 2015, that's 7.4 years.

Word from someone with close connections to the inside at Bradley is that this action today would probably not have happened when it did if not for the sentiments expressed by fans and supporters of Bradley University, many of them posted by fans here on BradleyFans.com.
So thank you to all the loyal Bradley fans here on Bradleyfans.com, and elsewhere who wrote letters, and posted their thoughts and opinions regarding the situation at Bradley.
It turns out that those who's wishes were answered today, no matter how little part you think you played, helped to right this sinking ship!
And for that, Bradley will be much better off.
