The play of our two freshmen has been one of the better aspects of our season so far...
Here's a list of all the best freshmen in the MVC...
Jordan Caroline (SIU) - 8.9 ppg, 6.3 rpg
Josh Cunningham (Bradley) - 7.1 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 2.5 off rebounds/gm
Alex Etherington (InSU) - 3.9 ppg, 1.3 rpg
Wyatt Lohaus (UNI) - 4.7 ppg, 1.2 rpg, 41% from 3-pt
Deontae Hawkins (ISU) - 6.7 pg, 5.2 rpg
Donte Ingram (Loyola) - 5.6 ppg, 3.5 rpg
Jay Knuth (Loyola) - 4.8 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 50% (8-16) from 3-pt
Deion Lavender (SIU) - 3.8 ppg, 2.1 ppg
MiKyle McIntosh (ISU) - 6.8 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 5.8 rpg in conference play
Shaquille Morris (Wichita) - 4.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 53% shooting
Ore Arogundade (Drake) - 3.4 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 0.6 apg
Brenton Scott (InSU) - 11.4 ppg, 3.7 rpg
Reed Timmer (Drake) - 9.9 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 2.6 apg but only 38.9% FG%, and 24.4% 3-pt
Donte Thomas (Bradley) - 1.8 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 0.6 apg
Based on their impact so far, and their numbers - here are the ones I think will make up
the All Freshman Team in the MVC - things could change or injuries might limit some guys, but these are the best five...
-Josh Cunningham
-Jordan Caroline
-MiKyle McIntosh
-Reed Timmer
-Brenton Scott
as always the top teams in the Valley are veteran teams who don't play a lot of freshman minutes - so all five of those guys play for teams that are currently in the middle or lower MVC - but whoever's team can make a run might get the Freshman of the Year...
I like Josh's chances - especially since our next FOUR GAMES (SIU, Missouri State, Drake, & InSU) are teams that Josh might be able to dominate...
