Joanne Glasser & Mike Cross....Why is Redbird Arena filled with fans and tons of students? We have record low attendance and our students could care less about BU Basketball. BU basketball is dead compared to ISU. Shame on both of you.

Here are the attendance figures for the last BU-ISU games at Carver Arena for the past decade. Attendance figures for games earlier are not available on the Bradley website, but I believe the BU-ISU game was a sellout every year from the early 1990's through 2011. Several of the games set all time attendance records. Not only has the reported attendance fallen way off these last couple years, the number of no-shows has skyrocketed.
No-shows for the ISU game were unheard of until these last couple years.-
2013-14 8,403
2012-13 9,088
2011-12 10,584
2010-11 10,592
2009-10 11,281
2008-09 11,592
2007-08 11,421
2006-07 11,444
2005-06 11,164
2004-05 10,406
first off wiz...we never get the ISU game on a Saturday...
It's a matter caused by multiple factors - but whatever excuse you wanna use - we'll never draw as many students nor fans to a Wednesday game than a Saturday game
2nd - they held a very popular event right before & leading up to this game - an event that has drawn thousands for over a decade..
check how many people were there 2 hours before the game...
Athletics will host Taste of Redbirds on Saturday, February 1, at Horton Field House.
3rd - they're winning more than we are..
they have exciting players who can score..
they regularly score more than 50... (way more)
and they have a chance at post-season play...
4th - they have a Strength of Schedule that is better than ours
5th - they haven't killed all the fan interest with bad decisions that led to painful fallout, nor did they tell their fans to take a hike so they could re-sell their seats to someone else, and they didn't put out the word that they don't giva dang about those in the upper bowl...or call them uneducated because they don't see the value in playing in the girls' gym
unless a bunch of ISU fans fill out stands - we're gonna only have around 6-7,000 this year - but somehow the media will call it a good crowd or blame it on Jim Les
btw - anyone who has been around more than 4-5 years will remember that our ITOO Supper looked a lot like that huge crowd at ISU ...
it used to be an amazingly popular event - but it's been axed because it was the idea of someone from the past administration
- so it had to go...
just another reason fan interest has tanked.
It is not just basketball that has gone down the crapper. As we have documented, the other premiere sports at Bradley are worse than they have ever been. here are just a few of the embarrassing numbers that Dr. Cross and the administration seem so proud of from the past year-
MVC conference records-
Men’s basketball 1-5 (overall record now 6-13)
Women’s basketball 0-5 (overall record 1-15)
Volleyball 2-16 (overall record 2-26)
Soccer 1-5 (overall 9-11)
Baseball 5-16 (previous year 2-19)
These losing records represent an all time record low winning percentage for the top sports at Bradley

Can't agree with you Wiz. For a school their size they have had very small attendance over the years. Bradley is their biggest rival and always have a good student crowd. Why? They will be on TV. Bradley kids are the same way.

Chico, I can't agree with you...im guessing there's no one on this board who has attended more games at both places as I have had season tickets at both up until this year when I dropped bradley.
BTW I'm a bradley fan ...I married into isu. Seems like I get blasted as a isu fan when I speak the difference between the two programs. So anyone that feels the need to flame me can keep it to themselves.
Student participation hasnt been good at either school for a while. Bradley has a better basketball atmosphere and beer, which should be a draw. But isu is doing a whole lot more to get students there now. My opinion is that muller is more focused on that than geno.
I'm amazed at the reported attendance at Bradley. Over the last few years we all know that attendance is overstated because of no shows. I'm guessing isu doesn't have the number of season tickets so their attendance isn't subject to as much over statement.
Bradley has always had a very dedicated fan base. I was one of them who was willing to drive 90 minutes round trip for almost every game. Isu fans are many transplants from other areas of the country and world. Not as dedicated to isu plus no beer. But again in what I've seen in the last few years, isu isn't only kicking bradley on the court but also in getting fans to the games.
Those stats from the ncaa are interesting. The mvc fell more then any other conference both in real numbers and percentage (20-25%). That's not good.
That drop is due entirely to one single factor- in 2014 the MVC lost Creighton which averaged 17,896 per game and added Loyola which averaged 1,928 per game.
I made only one ISU game last year; it was the playoff game against Texas A&M. The crowd was comparable to the previous Bradley CIT games but in a much larger arena; if I remember correctly they didn't even sell upper deck tickets (2-3 k?).
BUT, I know that after ordering tickets, I got on their ticket list. Every time there was a game (ISU football or basketball), I got a notice about tickets, promotions, etc. They really market hard. I don't know if BU does that.
I also know that when I use my Illinois football tickets, I get a note thanking me for showing up. The one time I didn't use my season ticket (showed up at the game with other tickets), I got a note saying that they were sorry that I couldn't make it.
Bradley's attendance is not good and is overstated in the numbers that some can not seem to come to grips with. Bradley needs to win in other sports besides basketball. ISU is now a force in baseball, volleyball, and football. Isu having success in football is already paying dividends in all outlets.
