  • Head Coach Jim Molinari Suspends Top Sophomore

Brandon Smith, who was considered by many to be the top high schooler in the state of Minnesota two years ago has been supended by head coach Molinari.

Brandon Smith is a very skilled basketball player, but he is trouble. This is not a surprise. Dan Monson was a little more forgiving with the kid since he was on the hot seat to win games. But Molinari won't put up with such stuff. I would be surprised if the kid plays for Molinari again. He will probably look to transfer.

Smith has a long history of not getting along with coaches. He couldn't get along with his first high school coach, so he transferred. Then he was suspended for his entire senior season in high school for refusing to follow his new coach's rules. Then he was suspended for the second semester of his freshman season for academic shortcomings.

Jim Molinari goes to 4-3 with Minnesota with a win over SE La.

He took over a team that was 2-5, and has gone 4-3 with those 3 losses being OT, one point, and 4 points to the #12 RPI team (UNLV).

But it doesn't get any easier, as he heads into the Big Ten season.
