  • Major Bradley announcement coming

Bradley has issued a press release stating that there will be a major announcement coming. It will be announced Thursday night at an event scheduled to take place in Los Angeles, California, and to be presented by BU President Joanne Glasser, and BU Hall of Famer and Dodgers play-by-play announcer Charlie Steiner (BU Class of 1971).

Although I have suspicions what this may be about, I don't know what the content and purpose of this announcement is, and I believe the event was an event that was already scheduled to take place in California, but it must be something important for Bradley to issue a press release to make this coming announcement public.

If she is doing the presenting it may not be what I am wanting to hear.

        WMBD now has the story-

        BU To Make "Major Announcement"

"Bradley will be the first university in the country to make an announcement such as this."

This clue confirms that it will not be the announcement many here were hoping for.

maybe something to do with expanding Bradley's sports journalism program

...likely the development of a sports broadcasting curriculum and touting all the past guys with BU connections such as Steiner, Brickhouse, Snell, Lawler, Mort Cantor, Andy Masur, etc...
It'll be an expansion of Bradley's Sports Journalism program to include additional curriculum in Broadcast Sports....

            Whew!

Thought JG was going to announce BU dropping to DIV III in all it's intercollegiate athletics. (At least formally)

Charley Steiner makes contribution to Bradley - gets the School of Sports Communication named after him

JACKSON — Jackson County Circuit Judge Thomas D. Wilson on Tuesday took seconds to declare four documents filed with the Branch County register of deeds “to be of no legal force or effect” after Bran…

From the BU press release last PM-

The sports communication program at Bradley was launched in Fall 2009 and has grown to 120 majors today. Steiner??™s gift allows Bradley to expand its offerings for expedition courses and internships and create symposiums and lectureships. It positions Bradley to have the very best curriculum in sports broadcasting, marketing, new media, journalism, and play-by-play announcing....
???Charley's generous gift, famous name, and renowned achievements make the Steiner School of Sports Communication the first authentic major league Sports Communication academic program in the country. These additions help Bradley attract the best students from throughout the country and the world to study with the very best faculty and connect with industry professionals.???

So with the generous donation and all the expansion coming to the Charlie Steiner School of Sports Journalism, it seems likely Bradley will need to hire a few more sports journalists to direct internships and teach courses in the expanded curriculum.
                      Hmmm.....

This is great for the University! But we all know who will take credit for this JG. She is trying to make a push to look good to the Board knowing that she has failed the University miserably during her tenure..
