Boy wasn't that 1st half something. Went to a friends house to watch and left at halftime . Just can not watch this garbage anymore. Words just can't describe how pitiful we are.
Bradley had an impressive stretch late in the 2nd half to close a 20+ point lead down to as little as points, but time ran out on them. They need to figure out what they did in the 6-7 minute stretch (they outscored UNI 18-6). They were successful pressing and got several turnovers, and their defensive energy lead to a great offensive streak where even the 3-point shots were falling. But the first 40 minutes of the game were as bad as they could have been.
I got seats that were on the floor and I thought maybe a change of scenery would give me a different perspective and it did. They look a lot worse up close. Man the first 13 1/2 minutes we were just plain TERRIBLE. We get outscored by a 31-9 margin and it looked like we had no clue. Give up wide open 3's? CHECK. Miss more point blank shots? CHECK. Miss wide open shots? CHECK. Not rotate on defense? Check.
It's pretty simple folks. When you don't play offense and don't play any defense you get 31-9. We finally switched to zone and we were able to slow them down. We still had some issues in the 2nd half as UNI was up 45-22 with 15:00 left and they went the next 5 minutes without scoring. We made 4 FT's during that span. In fact there was a 9 1/2 minutes period where we didn't have a FG. With 7 1/2 minutes left we were down 50-29 and then somehow outscored them 21-6 in the next 6 minutes to cut it to 56-50. UNI missed the front end of a 1 and 1 and we had a chance to cut it to a 1 possession game but the shot we take is a 15 footer by our worst outside shooter, Josh. Josh was 2 for 8 with his 2 makes being at the basket. He was 0 for 2 from 3 and he is currently 3 for 26 from 3. His last made 3 was 11 games ago against Memphis. Josh did have 9 points and 11 rebounds and I really like what he does around the basket but that is where he needs to stay.
Other than Barnes the rest of the team was 7 for 26 from 2 and 3 for 15 from 3. We did shoot 15 for 16 from the FT line. Our center position (X, Shaw and Nate) had 7 points (All X), 4 rebounds and 7 fouls. With his 7 point, 2 foul game X has moved above the Mendoza line as he has scored 56 points and committed 55 fouls. On the other hand Shaw increased his difference to 59 fouls, as he fouled out in 10 minutes, and 50 points.
If we had showed any kind of a sense of urgency throughout the whole game like we did in the last 7 minutes we make actually have a chance in some of the rest of our games but it just doesn't seem like we are capable of that. If we can't do that against ISU on Saturday we may as well not even show up.
official attendance was announced at 5129 - which even if accurate is, I believe, yet another record low fo a conference game since before we moved into the Fieldhouse in 1949.
But it wasn't anywhere close to 5129 - it was probably more like 2000
.. They need to figure out what they did in the 6-7 minute stretch (they outscored UNI 18-6).....
what happened was that for a short stretch of about 2 minutes we launched three desperate 3-point attempts - and they all happened to go in...
In fact - between 8:29 and 0:58 - we actually made every field goal attempt we took - we actually had a stretch of making some shots!
But it involved abandoning any effort to run the offense that they had been running for 35 minutes - in fact all season, too...
and they went into desperation mode and launched three-point attempts as their only hope - but they JUST HAPPENED to go in...
thus over that ~2 min stretch late in the game we narrowed the lead to just 6 pts - but never got any closer...
If abandoning the offense that we've run for 18 games and going into desperation mode is what you propose we do the rest of the season - I doubt it will work...
Those 3-pointers haven't been falling all year - so barring that short 2-minute stretch last night, I doubt it's gonna continue....
In the end - we fouled them to try to get the ball and they made 9 FT's in the final 1:30 -
Even if we made EVERY SHOT that we missed over the final 8 minutes of the game - it wouldn't have provided enough & we still would lose because we kept putting them on the FT line and they make FT's
Now we gotta go win at ISU
Kirk Wessler was pretty discouraged per his tweets - implying the Bradley players either didn't show up or they quit early on...

And the total and average attendance figures are way down. Will the PJ Star, the Board of Trustees, or anyone ever notice?

The 5,129 attendance, since tickets sold are what is counted, must mean that season ticket sales are closer to 4,000 since there were hundreds of people there who were not season ticket holders. Considering at one time that season ticket sales approached 9,000, this really is pathetic what has been allowed to happen to this program.

The fact that the top 2 on that list from the last 2 seasons are conference games is alarming..
