Yes, Kirk Wessler posts another negative column after telling us in his New Year's column he was going to only report the positives.

Does anyone remember this KW resolution?-

I’m so tired of writing depressing evaluations of Bradley basketball, I considered a resolution for 2015: Don’t write bad stuff about the Braves....
What new can be written about Bradley’s woes? Nothing, really.

But every column he has written since then has described in great detail how excruciatingly bad every last aspect of Bradley basketball is. Yet, unlike every column he wrote about the last regime, when he placed 100% of the blame for every loss directly on the coach, and he kept a diary of all his perceived coaching deficiencies so that he could regurgitate them in every column, not one single word in any of his negative columns now seem to blame anything but the players.

Sorry to repeat my observations and opinions on this, but from communicating with hundreds of intelligent and insightful fans, it is clear that everyone else can see the problem is not just with the players.
There is a severe coaching and recruiting deficiency that is unlike anything we ever have seen with the last coach, or any coach in Bradley history.

Yes, it is time for Kirk Wessler and Dave Reynolds to open their eyes, try a little objectivity, show some integrity, and report what every Bradley fan, even the JL-haters can clearly see. We all wanted Geno and his staff to succeed, but they have not. In fact, they have taken Bradley to its lowest point in the last 80 years of Bradley basketball. It is time for the PJ Star to drop their blind support for this administration, and report what is now painfully obvious to everyone-

This coaching staff has failed and failed badly. They have been out-coached by nearly every coach of every team we've played in 3 1/2 seasons. And on top of the inadequate coaching, and the lack of any chance to win a game with our coaching, the recruiting and player development, which is the other responsibility of coaches, has been virtually non-existent. And the AD and the administration are to blame for creating this mess, and now sitting back and doing nothing while things deteriorate to record low levels. They all need to go.

There, I have just done their job for them. All DR and KW need to do is cut-and-paste my assessment and put it in their columns, instead of just regurgitating all the statistics, and results that everyone already knows. It is time for a change. Every Bradley fan now knows it.

And to the people at Bradley that are paid to read everything that is said here on this fan forum, and to report to the Bradley President (better known as spies, and we know who you are)- you are welcome to copy this message, as you do with all messages deemed negative, and discuss it with your superior. She knows who I am. I'd be happy to talk with her about what needs to be done, or to serve on a committee to get things right the next time.

any one of 3 or 4 things would have helped..

      - we have to shoot better

-or get the ball in the hands of guys who are shooting better - Mike Shaw (22%) & Josh Cunningham (12%) should not take any 3-pointers

-we knew who their scorers were and yet both of them got plenty of good shots and both got exactly what they wanted - both got their averages, and we left both undefended way too often.

-dribble into traffic and scoop up a wild shot - wasn't working and probably won't work very often..we need better offense

-which brings me to the final point - I have yet to see in FOUR YEARS - any evidence that Geno Ford knows how to coach offense at this level.
How many years before someone besides the few here on this message board finally figure out that our offense is horrible and that we cannot score more than 50-56 points, and that this exact same problem has plagued us since April of 2011!!!!
Prior to that we were one of the better offensive teams in the league and very entertaining to watch.
Now - even when we win - there are people who feel the offense resembles the latter years of the Albeck era.

5600 attendance for a conference game on a Saturday -- but I guess people must be so used to it that it doesn't mean much any more...
but this is what we ought to be drawing - please Board of Trustees, pull the trigger...

Compare those pictures to these from yesterday's paltry crowd-

https://twitter.com/VlahosNick/statu...018881/photo/1 (note the comment at the bottom; maybe Mr. Vlahos should be writing the Bradley game stories)

Note the end zone sections were almost totally empty on both ends, except for the band

I think when Wessler wrote in the paper saying he wasn't going to write any negative articles in the new year, he was being more sarcastic than anything. Most new year's resolutions are made to be broken. I still believe as the season goes along, the articles will become much more critical of the program. I think he was pretty critical of Ford's offense today. I guess he could have come right out and written Ford's offense sucks, but most people know it's Ford's offense, not the players', and Ford's recruited players on the floor. I would be more encouraged if he and Reynold's would start writing articles about the direction the Board of Trustees will take, if any. That is where the problem is. Snell and Klein won't be asking tough questions or making negative comments, because the university is their "sugar daddy". It falls on the Journal Star to start writing articles directed at the Board of Trustees. The pictures of the crowd says it all. The university is in existence first for education. However, in the past it's has generated a lot of revenue from the basketball program, that supports all other athletic teams. Bradley basketball is at an all time low, and it falls on the watch of the Board of Trustees, the president, the athletic director and the head coach, and in that order. Until the Board of Trustees wakes up, acknowledges the problem it will be more of the same. How much longer will they allow the President to stay in her position? That's the starting point.

and we are in deep trouble for next year as well since we are the only team in the MVC with scholarships available for next year that do NOT have anyone committed yet - and although recruiting info is generally kept close to the vest - none of the recruiting sites indicate we are close to landing anyone.

We are the only team with an open scholarship that failed to sign anyone last fall -- which may doom us to the same thing that happened the past four recruiting cycles (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014) where we had to take whatever was left over in the spring regardless of how limited the talent pool was and having to deal with the remaining recruits that had eligibility issues.

Before the season ends we will undoubtedly begin hearing our cheerleading press telling us how great we should be in 2015-16 since we have nearly everyone coming back!

But we actually do lose arguably our best player (Auston Barnes) and have nobody coming in to replace him...
but the biggest problem we may have is that all our poor-shooting players that are not helping us win games are the same guys we're gonna be stuck with next season..

If Geno is still the coach next year, I predict another significant loss of season ticket holders. I have been a ticket holder since 1977 and have had 4 tickets since the opening of the Civic Center and I cannot give 2 of my tickets away. I will not renew 2 of the tickets and may not renew any of the 4. It is just too painful to watch. I would predict at least 1500-2000 non renewals.

I am thinking the same thing. I know a lot of season ticket-holders who are saying they made a mistake renewing this season, and won't make the same mistake next season. Whoever the coach and AD are next year, they must put together a better non-conference schedule unless they don't mind losing all those ticket buyers. And please, as "uneducated" as I may be, please no more Division III Eureka's on the schedule!

The best we can hope for is that Glasser is fired or bought out in the next few weeks. The next best thing would be for the interim president to find money that could be used to fire and/or buy out Ford and fire Cross as soon as the team loses their first game in St. Louis. They've got to find a way to get rid of Ford before he uses the six or seven scholarships that will be available after next year. It's going to cost the university a lot of money, but in the long run, it won't cost as much as keeping these Keystone Kops around. Kent State should send us money for taking Ford off of their hands!!

                      I hear ya....
but here's a news flash for some in the media, some fallout-deniers, and some up on the Hilltop - who appear to now be figuring out for the first time that we are bad and that fans are fleeing in droves....
Or who seem shocked that fans are upset and writing letters or expressing their views on message boards..

This was easy to see coming four years ago -- the very people who have sent the Basketball program back to the dark ages - honed their skills on the baseball program - The bad play, lack of recruiting, and lack of coaching or discipline started in 2011-12 not just recently...

And the decimation of the long time Bradley fan base did not just start happening now....
                      it started four years ago......

Bradley averaged 9000+ all through the decade until 2011 and regularly had sellouts and 10,000+ crowds...or maybe you just bought the lie that the PJ Star spews that the bad attendances started in 2007?

The drop from 9-10,000 to 7,000, to 6,000 now to 4-5,000 with half of those being no-shows - is a new phenomenon since 2010.
Since the admin started firing the AD & the basketball staff over the objection of just about everyone...we have been tanking.

Nope this is purely a product of the Shaheen/Glasser/Cross era....they have engineered everything to their liking and da-mn-the-torpedoes to any and all fans who along the way have expressed or pleaded against their decisions & directives...
They have been at the wheel this entire time and fans like us have been screaming at the top of our lungs that we're headed for the cliff and we're already on the slippery slope...

We've seen this coming from way back then - just too bad we had to go through it this badly before some of those in charge started to get a clue...
unfortunately many still don't have a clue...and the fallout continues and continues....more to come...

Bradley, of course, has four NIT Championships.....but Evansville owns FIVE National Championships (DII) in 1959, 1960, 1964, 1965 (both with all-time Bulls great Jerry Sloan), and 1971 .....
