ha - ISU actually has a decent team and drew only 3800 - what gives with that??

In the end the home teams in the MVC tonight were 4-1 -
and that's supposedly been Geno's biggest goal - to prove that we will win our home games - let's see how we do the next two games against Evansville & UNI

Down 3 starters, ISU crushes up Drake. They were up by as many as 43 and playing all the way down to their walk-on. Still don't see how DU had the Shockers on the ropes a few days ago.
        You can climb any mountain

Illini knock off Mark Turgeon & #9 ranked Maryland in the Big Ten 64-57
they demonstrate that they actually are a better team without Rayvonte Rice...
Sometimes your "star" takes the too many shots and can hurt your team - these are talented guys and this is a classic example of addition by subtraction

Xavier knocks off #19 Seton Hall

UC-Davis up big at the half - UCD 44 - CSUN 31 - Tyler Les has the high scoring mark with 9 at half - Corey Hawkins with 7 assists at half
UCD making a bid to get the next Mountain West Conference invite!
(edit early in 2nd half - Tyler Les with five treys now and leads all scorers with 15 pts!)

          Then get this....
DePaul clobbers Creighton to go 3-0 in the Big East
this game was really never terribly close - DePaul scored the first 6, had a double digit lead by the first TV timeout, was up 15 before 5 minutes had ticked off..
and cruised the rest of the way....
Creighton made some runs but DePaul never scored a single basket over the final 5:10 and still held a comfortable lead.
I think Oliver Purnell just saved his job, and cancelled his request to forward his mail starting in March...

one further edit - wow, UC-Davis' bench is giving them 13-24, 31 points plus 14 rebs!!!!
wouldn't that be nice to have...
and here's another stat that blows me away - UC-Davis is blowing them out yet hasn't been to the FT line even ONE TIME while CSUN has been there 17 times!!!!
Maybe Coach Les needs to act more like crybaby Greggg Marshall and turn blue in the face, cry, whine, stomp his foot, throw his jacket into the crowd, and act like an imbecile - then maybe he'd get a couple foul calls....

Games I see it looks like a normal ISU crowd.

a couple comments about last night's other Valley games...

-Loyola got a road win in Evansville with a buzzer beater - it helped Loyola a bit that Mockevicius had some foul trouble
Page Not Found (404): It looks like you're lost... The page you are looking for no longer exists.

-ISU beat Drake 81-45 with arguably their three best players not even dressed. (Reggie Lynch, Devaughn Akoon-Purcell, Deontae Hawkins)
There was a little buzz over the fact that Hawkins wasn't even present at the game - and when asked, Coach Muller referenced some possible discipline issue.
He wasn't at their last game either - and not sure how serious but....one fan posted that they saw him in Bloomington at a local restaurant during the game!

-An Interesting comment by Drake coach Ray Giacoletti after the loss - saying that he thinks ISU's top 12 players are better than Wichita State's!!!
"Dan’s team played with great energy. They’re missing three really good
players, but I think they’re more talented than Wichita State at each position
1 through 12,” said Drake coach Ray Giacoletti."

-Missouri State writer has some pretty harsh words for their head coach Paul Lusk - suggesting he has no clue how to win with this group of players..
..he also calls ISU " .. arguably the most talented team in the Valley"
Halfway through the regular season, getting a good read on Missouri State basketball team impossible with latest clunker an example

...so why if ISU is the most talented - why do they sit at the bottom of the MVC standings, tied with Bradley?

Did you not read what you just posted. Reggie Lynch, Devaughn Akoon-Purcell, Deontae Hawkinsre 3 starters who are all hurt. Mcintosh started the year wearing a mask for a broken nose. Hunter missed most of the DePaul game and the game after with a concussion. The loss to ISU blue was a bad one in which a couple of those guys tried to give it a go and could not. Please use common sense.

ok.. so using injuries as an excuse....?
But their TOP 12 players are the most talented....
losing a couple shouldn't make such a huge difference that they get beat by Indiana State

anyway - found another gem from Barry Hinson after his team's loss last night...
"We went, really, 0 for 15 on unguarded jump shots," SIU coach Barry Hinson said.
"Our guys followed our game plan, did exactly what we wanted to do.
Defensively, we're guarding people, we just can't score right now. We just can't score."
