seems they are maybe wearing down a bit....
after winning most of their outings by double digits...two of the previous 3 games were a one point win & OT.
Now they get beat by GWU - and they shot kinda poorly, 21-61, with their starters shooting only 14-48 (29%)
Hopefully we can find a way to beat them.

Wichita is still a very good team but they don't have as much of an inside presence as they had last year, (Cleanthony Early), and are more beatable this year. They are also too reliant on shooting the 3. Now it's still going to take a really good team to beat them and I think they are still the favorites to win the MVC but NIU and Evansville have to be liking their chances a little bit more.

I bet that Wichita State sees that 1 - 3 - 1 zone defense some more this year. They looked a little lost against it. They are still a good team but they do not have top 10 talent this year and are beatable. I think they will stay top 25 this season. They will not go through the Valley undefeated this year. I don't see the Braves beating them.

WSU fans have been touting how weak the Valley is this year, so besides UNI, it'll be a stroll in the park and they'll kill it in the MVC.

IF the Shockers continue struggling with their season like they currently are, then they are definitely beatable by a few Valley teams.

WSU has struggled with lowly rated Hawaii, Detroit and even at home versus a middling Alabama team. What quality W do they have so far? Not piling on after last night, but as a hoops fan, I'm just not seeing it right now with the Shockers.

The Shocker fanbase is now touting how great their freshman are playing, and they are starting to bemoan the loss of AC Chris Jans (maybe he was more important they many thought).

Anyhow, headed in MVC season, it might be a quite bit more interesting Valley race.

Interesting, maybe....but I am not sure how much the actual MVC race has changed. IMO, WSU will still win the Valley in a cakewalk, and UNI will still be the #2 team. Evansville (9-2) and Loyola (10-2) have been the only real surprises, so far, but I still am not ready to believe they will be postseason (NCAA or NIT) teams. I think Illinois State, Missouri State, and Evansville will fight it out for 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Then Loyola might surprise and finish 6th, with SIU, InSU, Drake and BU fighting it out for 7th-10th places.
Incidentally, that is pretty close to the preseason picks, with the exception of Loyola, who was picked 10th.
Wichita State was named the preseason favorite in the Missouri Valley poll released Tuesday. Three Shockers were named to the preseason team, the first time in the 27 year history of the poll that that has occurred.

There are 5 teams that will enter MVC play without a winning record against D1 competition in their non-conference season, and with RPI's of 190 or higher (and 4 of them at 280 or higher).
I can't remember a previous season when half the conference was .500 or below or had RPI's that high.

Wichita will win the Valley easily barring significant injuries. UNI and ISU will follow up. The rest of the league is irrelevant and none of them will play in the NCAA or NIT. There may be a couple that play in the "pay if you can" tournaments, that I consider an artificial post season award. It is disturbing that over the last 3 years, heading into year 4, that as weak as the MVC is, BU is once again irrelevant. That shows how bad things are at BU. The program at BU is a travesty. Glasser and Cross have demoslished the athletic programs, while Ford is also responsible for the demolition of the basketball program. Glasser, Cross and Ford need to be replaced, but it doesn't stop there. The Board of Trustees is equally responsible. They are the ones that sit by idly as the sewer continues to back up at Bradley University. The Board of Trustees hired the current president. In my opinion, they are just as guilty as the president. People do not want lip service. They want action.

One thing that has really hurt and contributed to this current financial situation is that several board members, who were also huge donors to Bradley, have resigned from the Board, and stopped donating, or in some cases, withdrew donations and pledges of many millions of dollars. You would have a hard time finding any college that has lost such valuable members and donors as Bob and Carolyn Turner, Michael Bryant, Harry Puterbaugh, and Brian McGough, all of whom resigned and took their millions elsewhere because of "differences" with this administration.

Is that part of the problem? Instead of staying and fighting and demanding changes, they bailed. Now we are we left with yes people?

It is more complicated than just as you stated, but the shrinkage of the size of the board, and the departure of many esteemed members is an end result a lot like your final statement.

That is disappointing to hear DC. Instead of staying and trying to solve problems, they bail. That essentially is what they did. And that is why we have the problem we have.

These are benevolent people who donate their time, and often end up donating a lot of their money for the sole reason of giving back to Bradley University. The problem is not with them, but with those who engineered their departure.

If they donated as much as you say they did, and I'm not doubting you, then you would think they could have stayed on and tried to solve this problem.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

we're off topic a bit but as long as we're talking about departed Board members...
don't forget the members who were on the Board of Trustees back in 2008 but left shortly after that...

Hersey Hawkins, Dave Ransburg, Jay Vonachen, CORE Construction's Dave Baum, and others along with McGough & Puterbaugh..

Given Hersey is not only our all time leading scorer, but also the most recognizable single person in our basketball history and a favorite all time BU player of the largest segment of our adult fans...
it would sure be nice to have him back at some games - at least one every year - but I suspect that won't happen currently...
