Howard Moore's entire coaching staff got fired last year - ? forced out by the administration - and he is 42-97 overall at UIC, and 13-55 in the Horizon.
He has one CIT win that got him a contract extension and his team is so far the worst in the Horizon this year as well.
One could look at his performance thus far - in his 5th season at UIC and easily conclude that his W-L performance each year had more to do with the maturing of the group of players he inherited, culminating in a mediocre 18-16 record his 3rd year, then they graduated and now he has all his own players - and is 9-35, 1-15 in conference, since then. His story at UIC sounds uncannily familiar...
I would love to see the Chicago schools have more success - Chicago State, UIC, Loyola, Northwestern, NIU, and... Bradley (since we are pretty close to Chicago) - but in the last 5 decades, only one of them ever has.....and that has been Bradley - yet the BU fans & unwitting admin barely appreciate the successes we have had and have been deluded into thinking we need to clean house every few years and go back to the basement and start over.
My take FWIW..
always nicer to go home with a win than a loss...
-our guys played hard - that I appreciate...
-both teams had a lot of bad turnovers, bad shots, and foul prone
-69 FT attempts!!
-we go 25-40 from the FT line - on one side, missing almost 40% of our FT's is terrible
-on the other side - if we don't get those 25 points we lose big time to a very bad team
-Tramique with only one assist - part of that is a little selfishness to take a lot of shots & part is everyone he passes to misses
-Cunningham HAS TO finish on those layups!
-only 19 made FG's over 40 minutes - not very exciting to watch
-when they hit only 30% from the arc - why don't we zone them - especially when we want to avoid fouling on their drives?
-and regardless of what anyone says or what the announced attendance is - there were barely 2000 people there - lots of empties in the lower bowl
(attendance was announced at 5343)
btw - their starting center missed the game with injury and their top player & scorer was also hampered with injury and was scoreless..
gotta wonder if they were missing more key parts than we were ....
PEORIA, Ill. - Bradley guards Tramique Sutherland and Ka'Darryl Bell both scored career-highs, leading the host Braves to their fifth straight home win, a 68-60 victory against UIC Sunday evening.
The game day release notes...
[B][I]"Bradley will face one of its former assistant coaches for the third time this season when fifth-year UIC head coach Howard Moore
brings the Flames to Carver Arena Sunday afternoon. Moore was an assistant coach at Bradley for three seasons
under both Jim Molinari and Jim Les from 2000-2003.
here's an interesting factoid, though....at right about the same time Bradley is hosting UIC & ex-Bradley assistant Howard Moore...
WHAT GAME ELSEWHERE FEATURES TWO EX-BRADLEY ASSISTANT COACHES WHO WILL BE FACING EACH OTHER?
Here's the answer - mouse over to read....
UC-Davis with ex-BU assistant Kyle Vogt is playing at Washington State with ex-Bradley assistant Greg Graham. http://is.gd/1toK2h
Nice win for WSU Cougars and Greg Graham 90-83 over UCD
Nice win for WSU Cougars and Greg Graham 90-83 over UCD
I'm not sure what this has to do with the topic of this thread, but I knew someone would bring up the fact UCD lost. I just didn't figure it would be here, and I didn't expect it would be you lefty.
Washington State needed their best game of the season (54.4% shooting and 57.9% from three) to get by UCD at home. Corey Hawkins had 29 points. UCD shot 56% for the game, and 56% from three. It would be nice to see that kind of offensive efficiency from anyone, let alone an entire team.
9-2 would still look pretty good here right now. And playing well on the road is also something Bradley fans aren't used to seeing often.
