Who do you think are the best mid-major head coaches
- the ones doing such a good job that their names are going to be mentioned before the season's over as candidates to get hired away?
Obviously in the MVC we have Gregg Marshall & Ben Jacobson - but they seem pretty comfy where they currently are - but I gotta think someone is going to try to pry them away this season.
For almost 2 decades - the 1990's and 2000's the MVC was a VERY fertile place for bigger conferences to look to get fine head coaches...
but that phenomenon has died out substantially - Dana then Cuonzo were about the last ones to get consideration...then things slowed down...
Then others...
-The first one that stands out is Brian Wardle at Green Bay..
He doesn't get a lot of press but his teams are good every year, and it's not because he lucked into pretty good players - he gets the most out of what he has but coaches them up!
-Shaka Smart (VCU) will get a few phone calls
-then Harvard's Tommy Amaker, Buffalo's Bobby Hurley, Rhode Island's Dan Hurley, ODU's Jeff Jones, Dayton's Archie Miller, Boise State's Leon Rice, Charlotte's Alan Major, Eastern Michigan's Rob Murphy has done a great job!, Valpo's Bryce Drew, and TCU's Trent Johnson even tho not a classic midmajor.
