Bravo...Tornado. I totally agree. I don't know how they determined which season ticket holders had the CMU game included in their package. I know of several people in the upper bowl and even people in the middle section of the lower bowl about half way up that did not get the game in their season tickets either. I've been going to BU games since 1963, when Bradley basketball was consistently a top 10 program. I still go to every game, unless it's at the Ren-Col. That place was designed for women's basketball and volleyball. They will never go back to playing more than one or two games a year on campus. The city fathers will never allow that to happen and let the civic center be empty. They simply will not shell out any money for street improvements in the area. As I stated before in an earlier post...the only people wanting to move back on campus are the people that have created this mess. If the truth was to be known, Ford was probably forced by Glasser to make that public statement. I can remember watching the MVC tournament at the civic center when Hawkins was a senior. That place was rocking! The facility is not the problem. The product is.

And THIS, is why they don't care what you think. They have you hook, line, & sinker.

It is a tough situation as a fan. Be loyal and go to all the games no matter the opponent or how well Bradley is playing. Normally, I fall into that category. I actually like going to games at Ren Col but I also realize that if all games were there it's not the best for Bradley basketball. I will not be attending the Eureka game. I have to draw the line somewhere. This is just sinking way too low.

BU is in competition for the same dollar, restaurants, movie theaters, casinos and other forms of entertainment, are after. The plain and simple truth is this. Of the people that complain about the shape of BU basketball, or any other BU sport they may support, some will not go at all, some will go sometimes and some will still go all the time. As time goes on without improvement the numbers will decline as we have seen. Once you lose these people you will never get them all back. You may get some back but not all of them. They can come up with all of the marketing ideas they want, but without the product, it won't change a thing. People will not continue to go to a restaurant that has bad food or service. The same applies for all entertainment dollars. Once you get to the point the BU athletic department is in, to turn it around takes sustained success and essentially a new fan base. All you have to do is look about 150 miles to the north of us. DePaul has struggled to regain the prominence it had for several years. They use to have the pick of all recruits in Chicagoland, now they struggle to get any. They have moved back and forth from Alumni Gym on campus to the Rosemont out by O'Hare, several miles from campus. They have never gotten their crowds back. It isn't because of the facility, it's because of the product. BU is in the same position as DePaul. DePaul may play in a tougher conference than BU, but neither is competitive in the conference they are in. And that is why nobody goes. The BU program isn't like what Yogi Berra was talking about when he said, "Nobody goes there to eat anymore it's too crowded". The BU situation is "Nobody goes to eat there anymore the food isn't any good".

They could thus also draw 4300 for Eureka but a lot would be no-shows...
This way if a lot stay home and the Civic Center looks terribly empty for the Eureka game - I guarantee it will draw comments of "you see - the atmosphere is so much better and we draw so much better at Ren-Col".
Lastly - some fans, like myself, would continue to come to ALL the Bradley games no matter where they played them - even ICC's gym..

BUT I doubt there are all that many fans like me in that regards - especially confirmed by looking at the stands lately...
So here's what I suggest...work to get those fans back that you have lost!
Stop suggesting if they only buy upper bowl tickets that it doesn't help the University - as if you don't give a dang about anyone who sits up there whether they come or not.
Try listening to your customers - the ones who stopped buying tickets because the schedule is lousy or because the quality of play is bad...
I know it sounds like a completely foreign idea but try doing what BU has always done so well until just the past few years - and Wichita does it and Creighton does it...
put a GOOD, exciting talented team on the floor, schedule teams that matter, and score at least 50 points and win.
Think about it - it'll sink in - it's not all that strange of an idea.
The solution is NOT to overspend and stack the coaching staff with inexperienced personnel - not one of which has ever seen a team go to the NCAA.
Stop throwing all our recruiting marbles into one basket & hope a few Mac Irvin players is all we need, and stop looking to downgrade, downsize, and underachieve then say it's really better for the fans...because most know better and most are not coming any more...

So does CMU's win over Northwestern make anyone feel better about Bradley's season?

Eureka is excited about this game...they've sold their allotment of 100 tickets!
they call this the "War on 24" - a takeoff of the games with ISU being the "War on 74"..

what have we been reduced to if we are tickled pink and boasting about our quality win over
Central Michigan - a 165 RPI team with a 340 SOS!!
Oh for the days that we regularly beat Big East teams and occasionally knocked off ranked teams...
