  • Dave Reynolds: Auston Barnes= Go-to guy

    Dave Reynolds article-
Auston Barnes??™ role on Braves evolving days after benching, Bradley??™s lone senior becoming go-to guy
PEORIA — Bradley forward Auston Barnes began Tuesday’s game at Kansas State on the bench, relegated there after a horrid performance at Memphis three nights before. In that 73-45 Memphis rout, Barn…

I hope calling Barnes a "go-to guy" doesn't jinx him like it did when Kirk Wessler referred to Warren Jones as Bradley's go-to guy just 1 week ago-

    This confirms Da Coach's comment...
"This was a moral victory, I guess,” Barnes said."

I don't have any issue with finding some positive qualities in the game even though we lost - especially coming on the heels of such a big loss at Memphis.
so if that's what he means by moral victory...
But when we play those next few games, we have to win big and show we've made some strides.
If a close loss is a moral victory then you kinda have to look at those close wins over weak teams like NC A&T & CMU as discouraging..

I get sick of being negative. I cannot do it for too long. I was extremely frustrated after the Memphis game and I was pretty negative, but I don't see how you two do it day after day with the gloom and doom and misery. If I felt that way every day about something I would run an hide from it.

The KSU game would not win us any awards, but it wasn't a complete disaster. I'll take that as a positive and something to build on. I am LOOKING for things to root for, rather than looking for things to root against.

And believe me, this season I have had to remind myself of that more than once.

I agree - our guys need to get that behind us and win the next several games....
Eureka, UCI, UALR, UIC, Loyola - I see them all as winnable if our main guys have solid games, hit shots, grab rebounds, and limit turnovers.

I get a kick out of how DR lauds Geno for sticking to his guns and not starting Barnes because of his previous poor game. Maybe Geno should have tried that a few times with Walt Lemon. Can't wait to we put it on those Eureka Red Devils?
