I am surprised we did not hear or read anything about the "West of the Mississippi" curse after this game or in the PJ Star today, since so much has been made of it in the past. But for those who are keeping track, it now stands at 30 straight losses.

We actually have 2 "Moral Victories" as the loss to TCU was termed a moral victory by many.

Last night brought a smile to my face .....

I felt like we showed balance and improved dramatically. Not having to depend on a player injured and not playing helped in so many ways. Nothing but our getting better and better come Valley time. Our woes at the free throw line and layups have to end soon. I feel good. MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone and GOD Bless!!!!!

There hasn't been much talk of the next few games...

-Dec. 18 - home game against Eureka should give a "W"

-Dec. 21 - UC-Irvine in Las Vegas -the Anteaters are a very BIG team with 5 guys 6-10 and bigger, and 3 guys over 7-ft.
Surprisingly they don't seem to utilize their size advantage all that much and have only out-rebounded their opponents by a total of 17 rebounds over 7 games (4-3)
They shoot well overall (hit 48% from the floor but only 33.6% from the arc)
If we shoot well, we have a chance...

-Dec. 22 - Green Bay or UALR in Las Vegas - Green Bay is playing well, 6-2, and they have THREE quality wins (FGCU, Miami, and Evansville)
They are athletic but shoot poorly from 3-pt - Georgia State did hold them to 48 & beat them so we have a shot.
UALR is the weaker of the two potential Dec. 22 opponents, but they are no pushover.
They are 4-3 and even gave Tulsa a very tough game but they are winless away from home. They don't turn it over much.

-Dec. 28 - home game vs. UIC - as much as the Flames are struggling we should have a very good chance of picking up another win heading into the MVC season.

I do not see Arkansas-Little Rock beating Green Bay, and irvine is pretty good, so the most likely scenario would pair Bradley against UALR in the 2nd game in Las Vegas- a game Bradley should win. We should go 3-1 in the next 4 games.

What exactly constituted an illegal substitution?
Yeah it was later that he mentioned an illegal substitution. Maybe they were not sure either. They initially thought it was a lane violation. I looked it up, and an illegal substitution results in a technical, so I am not sure what it was. It seems odd that nobody knew for sure, since it would have put the game out of reach.

Wishful thinking. That just sets us up to get to complain more. I think we should go 2-2, with hopes for 3-1.

whose illegal substitution was it, though??
If it was K-State's illegal substitution which would appear to be the case since they took away the made FT..
                then what if....

what if the call was made to assess a technical against K-State??
---then the 3 pt lead might suddenly shrink to one point with us inbounding at half court for a game winner?
Has anyone asked about this or protested this game-ending?
Someone on the staff should be on top of this and catch the blown calls...

** BTW - the article in the Kansas press still says the play involved a lane violation and both of the play-by-plays I reviewed simply call a missed FT at the end and then a deadball rebound
MANHATTAN — The first half was one of the worst Kansas State has ever played in Bramlage Coliseum: 18 points on 3-of-13 shooting with 11 turnovers. But anyone near the Wildcat locker room would not h…

I am pretty sure they said that K-State illegally substituted... although they did not say any more about it. I am no expert on basketball, I am just going by what the radio said and by googling it. That is strange, though, that the article says that they missed that free throw. There's my 2 cents.

I asked the man who would know, Bobby Parker, and he said it was a lane violation. I think the only penalty for an improper substitution is a technical, not a loss of a free throw.

                      This does make more sense.

The only thing that makes sense here is that it was a lane violation. If it had been an illegal substitution penalty such as not reporting or illegal number a technical who have been assessed and was not so the lane violation makes more sense.
