New Jersey Institute of Technology really giving Michigan a game. NJIT leads 61-59 with 4:30 to play.

For those of you wondering why NJIT might sound familiar, they are the team that had a 51 game losing streak, that they broke in 2009. With 2:30 to play they now lead 68-64. This would be a best win in school history, I'm guessing.

No sympathy here for the Wolverines. They came in 6-1 with five wins at home. This was their sixth home game. I always think it's unfair that the power conference types -- already rich with resources -- won't play true road games in pre-conference play so they fatten their records. Then, when they beat each other up in conference play, they get into the NCAA because they have such stellar pre-conference records they must be good.

Meanwhile, this was NJIT's sixth road game out of eight played. Good for them!

I write this realizing BU is playing its first true road game tonight. But y'all know what I mean.

Michigan is maybe going down AGAIN to a midmajor...

14 seconds left Michigan trails Eastern Michigan 45-42 - with Michigan fouling a bunch to get to the bonus and put EMU on the line

Tulsa loses at home to D-2 SE Oklahoma State 69-66. They trailed by 19 with 7 minutes left before staging a furious rally. Still trailing by 7 with 10 seconds left, they scored, got a steal, got an "and 1", got SE Ok. St. to miss 1 of 2 FT's, and actually had a chance to tie with a 3 that missed at the buzzer.

This was a horrific loss to a team that came in 4-9, including blowout losses to Texas Tech, UTSA, and UTEP by an average of nearly 27 points per game.

And Tulsa has nearly everyone back this year from their NCAA team last season, and just beat Creighton by double digits last week.

So BU had best not overlook Eureka.

Another upset...Incarnate Word won at Nebraska 74-73.

if I didn't know better - I'd have to think teams like Nebraska & Michigan would like to see schools like NJIT & Incarnate Word run out of Division I
...oh, sorry, that's what the BCS guys ARE doing

Somebody in Illinois should have worked harder to land Incarnate Word's Dontrelle Walker. The Aurora West grad is putting up some big numbers as a freshmen. Watched him play last year at the Pontiac tourney against Crane and Cliff Alexander. I think Alexander finished for 37 and Walker had over 40 along with ISU commit Griffin adding around 20. It was the best high school game I had ever seen. Got to wonder how Eastern, Loyola, UIC, and even ISU or Bradley let him get away.

Looks like NJIT is making a bundle off tee shirts boasting of their upset of Michigan-

NJIT bookstore overwhelmed with shirt orders from Michigan??™s rivals

I suspect Michigan might see a few of those shirts on students and fans at upcoming Big Ten road games.
