People on this board get ticked when someone discredits Les and then others post this asking for it??¦??¦??¦.

      Just observing

      No discredit intended....

And many more RPI changes will take place for both teams as the season unfolds.

But I find the hypocrisy stunning at times, especially on the other board, where protestations against coach comparisons are offered....until the poster wants to offer injury excuses or tired old Les blaming....talent left behind etc. The reality is Gf inherited some good players and maybe didn't know how to use them. Then GF self inflicted injuries by a revolving door of players of his own recruiting.

So happy for Les and what may be a nice season for UCD and concerned that BU is making no progress against lesser opponents.

Now someone will come on here and say how JL didn't do this or that and then DC comes in and talks about people trying to discredit Les??¦??¦He's gone??¦.it's over??¦ I think Mo is much better than either but what's done is done..

I hope Les does well but I don't get all the Les love here at all

lefty, do you think Jim Les deserves any credit for what appears to be a turnaround in historically one of the worst programs in D1?

Prior to Les being hired, the best D1 record UCD ever had was 14-18 (.438 ). Les improved on that by his 2nd season. His 3rd season was wasted by numerous injuries and redshirts to 3 key starters. But now in year 4 he's put together a nice team and they are 5-0. UCD hasn't been 5-0 since 1952.
They obviously won't continue undefeated, but from what I have seen, they have a nice team with good shooters, good guard play, some nice big men, and more talented recruits on they way, despite UC Davis being one of the toughest schools in the country to recruit to. They also haven't seen the kind of massive player turnover we have, and their attendance is actually up, not down, like Bradley's. Plus his salary is a fraction of what Bradley is paying.

It sounds like a nice success story involving one of Bradley's greatest HOF players. Why shouldn't any Bradley grad or fan be happy to hear about it?

but lefty - we have threads going about every past Bradley Brave from Hersey Hawkins to Willie Scott, to POB to Dyricus Simms-Edwards and how they are currently doing
yet if someone tries to give some kudos to JL it riles folks..
I don't get it - why do people hate Jim Les so much?

I don't have any problem with Geno and likely never will - and will probably be posting about what he's doing 20 years from now...

but if we are ever going to get better - then first I think we need to see how bad we currently are...
Given the letter I just saw coming from the Chairman of the Board of Trustees - and how he claims we are currently riding a wave of widespread unprecedented success in BU athletics and we are doing better than at any time for the past decade...and that he's completely satisfied with our programs' performance and there's no need to make any changes...
it definitely makes me realize some weird phenomenon or blinders make it impossible for those in charge to see things realistically.
Surely you don't think we are doing that great, do you?

the board is all about trying to say BU made a mistake in firing Les to replace him with Geno when they were two entirely different things??¦

              but you guys go ahead

Yes??¦he's having phenomenal success at UCD??¦??¦why the need to put BU's RPI here if it's just a thread about Les?

funny you should ask that - I don't know the answer....but completely blindside attacks against JL have been going on for 12 years so why is anything tlike this so unusual?

..perhaps it is in response to this post just a couple weeks ago in a thread about Bradley - where someone chose out of the blue to mock how badly UC-Davis was doing in a thread that had nothing to do with UC-Davis

OK-I'll take the bait. About once a year I seem to have had it up to here with the negative comments on JL/the questions on why we even follow him. I agree with T that I cheer for every Bradley player and coach after they graduate from Bradley and go on with their basketball career/life.

but truthfully in my book JL goes way beyond that

                    his brother played for BU
he was the ball boy when his brother played for BU
he played for DV in one of the greatest teams in BU history in the last 50 years
he went on to the NBA
he came back to Bradley as head coach and coached the team to the greatest run in 50+ years
he was unceremoniously dispatched by a President pretty new to the university

He is just about as much Bradley family/Bradley Basketball royalty as we can find

So, yes in my book I will always follow JL's career and yes I will lament where we are. Costs too much/delivers too little/plays a horrible schedule. We are in a bad place right now and I hope we recover soon-Bradley needs it.

Now everyone can scream about the post but at least it is off my chest.

I wonder why you left your part of the discussion out of that quote T??¦..

Is it because in a Robert Morris-BU game thread you had to mention how well UCD was shooting and how UCD will depart the list of winless teams before BU?

So most all discredits regarding Les or UCD come after the comparisons and mentions of JL in threads that didn't have anything to do with JL??¦..

Start a "I love Jim Les" thread and post all the love in that instead of peppering all the threads??¦??¦.just an idea

Lefty, you wouldn't be exaggerating here just a little?
I can find only about 3 or 4 threads out of the last 50 or so that mention Jim Les. And unlike some other forums- they are all positive. What is wrong with that? I suspect Bradley fans would like to be 5-0 right now.

Yes??¦.I see I said all the threads??¦.that isn't true and I don't care that much to look through them all but it happens very often DC??¦in threads that had nothing to do with JL??¦.Many times at the end of a post??¦.kind of like your post #11 in small print of the BU-TCU thread

You didn't mention my last line with the JL love thread??¦.I thought that was a good idea??¦.

it's getting pretty unanimous lefty, even on TOB - we all know what needs to be done for Bradley to get better...
the things that have been done over the past few years have been disastrous and have been very bad moves
... I just wonder how much more bad news both athletically & academically we'll have to suffer through before the right thing gets done, and even more importantly - will there be any fans left by then

And that has what to do with this thread or what we have been talking about?
