it's all about $$ - now more than ever but they simply do not see that their moves to make more money will backfire when those moves infuriate the fans
#1 concept in any business - know what your fans like & what they want and the customer is always right...
but if you do the opposite - strive only for what makes you more $$ and stomp all over the fans in the process it will backfire and already has big time...

A regular season home attendance stated at 4200 (and it wasn't even close to that) still goes down as one of the top 3 or 4 smallest home crowds since the opening of the Fieldhouse in 1949!
That is what you get if you strive for record small

Good win for the Braves! I did not like the game at the Ren Con small time atmosphere. Geno is getting these guys to play hard I see a lot of effort not the best execution at times still a work in progress. The one player that really bugs me is Shaw he just plays soft and looks lazy. After sitting out a year imo he should be putting in maximum effort every time he gets in the game and should be a difference maker with his size and mobility. We might be seeing why he got ran off a U of I. Warren Jones great game congratulations! He has gotten better each game I really like his defensive effort also.

After the game Geno sounded like he would like all the games played there. Sorry Geno, but long time BU fans aren't used to home games being played in gyms. You said some fans wouldn't like you saying that. Right about that. Sure JG liked hearing you say it though.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Couldn't agree more. The idea of moving into the Ren Col full time would be the epitome of thinking small. Be a huge step backwards. Geno said in the post game that he preferred it there because it was louder, felt more like a basketball environment. But that is going to happen at the Civic Center if the team is competitive. Terrible efforts the first two games led to a quiet Civic Center and multiple years of bad basketball teams will cause the Civic Center to become empty. Put a contender in there and it will be full all the time and loud like Ren Col was tonight.
          Gotta stop feeding the trolls.

            From BUBraves.com
            Jones leads BU past CMU
PEORIA, Ill. - Guard Warren Jones became the first men's player in Renaissance Coliseum history to crack 30 points, pumping in 33 to lead Bradley to an 84-73 win against Central Michigan Tuesday.

Come on all you gloomy gus's. Let's enjoy the win. We have plenty of time to grouse about the other stuff. I thought it was a good atmosphere and for the most part we played well, probably our most complete game of the year. Geno did say after the game that Tramique's time frame is the Eureka game on the 18th. I image Mr. Jones will be getting some attention from Memphis and Kansas State the next 2 games. I thought Central Michigan was as good as the 2 teams we played in Corpus Christi, TCU and St. Louis. I'm not sure if that's saying much yet or not. It was a pretty enjoyable game to watch until the foul fest at the end and got out of the parking deck in a few minutes. As far as everything else well.....

but there's at least a little reason for gloom on this subject...
there were plenty of season ticket holders who had tickets for this game as part of their package but they did not show - so what does that tell you...

If you move all the games there, a substantial part of our season ticket base will just drop out - they won't come any more - they won't want to fight that horrible traffic or battle to get in and out of the deck.

If people want to play all the games at Ren-Col, then many good BU fans will still come, but a lot won't. The people making decisions have already proven many times over that they don't think these moves thru very well and they don't realize the long term harm of the moves that seem ok short term.

It is no coincidence that our average attendance was always around 9,000 and even over 10,000 at times with a season ticket base of 7,500-8,000.
Those numbers are now down to 5,000 and 4000+ respectively thanks exclusively to bad decisions over the past 5-6 years and headed rapidly lower if those empty seats are any indication.
I know this sounds like downer talk..... but it is what it is and please don't shoot the messenger.

I just posted elsewhere about how both DePaul & UW-M tried moving games to their more profitable/student-friendly on-campus arenas - then almost immediately they realized the mistake that it was with the loss of fans- plus the detriment it may be to recruiting.

Our team is playing better with improved free throws and overall better effort. However, we are far from being competitive in the MVC unless WJ or someone else gets hot shooting the ball. I hope TS is as good as everyone has stated. It was nice to see a win and I think we will likely win a few more games (not likely on the road).

There were a lot of positives......
This is a team we were expected to beat - and yet most fans still felt a little uneasy deep into the game...
with only about 8 minutes to go - we were hammering them on the boards, nailing lots of 3-pointers, and had their starting center/best low post defender in serious foul trouble...
and yet the scoreboard still said 56-52 with them hanging too close for comfort - and remembering that we hadn't held on to previous leads...

in the end, we closed out well - and Memphis is a winnable game if we play well on the road...Go Braves!

Also - did anyone see this?
Right about the time people were beginning to leave at the end of the game - someone robbed that McDonald's again just east of the Main & University intersection!

Don't disagree with anything you said T. After watching us lose 2 winnable games in Corpus Christi and enjoying the Warren "And Along Came Jones" show I was hoping we could leave the "other stuff" in a different thread. The game and how we played should have been the focus there.

Thank you. when we win and show obvious improvement in most areas, players gaining confidence, hard work finally paying off, hopes of your team quarterback coming soon and there are as many negative comments as positive on a thread it makes no sense
