Dagger by the 5'9" kid. He is their only three point shooter, and we left him open.

ouch - everyone and their grandmothers knew McBroom was going to take that shot - yet we left him in single coverage and got lost on the screen

and we were coming off a time out with no plan to double him

Having not had a chance to watch the game and just looking at final stats, turnovers really seemed to be the big difference. Our three point game was better, rebounding strong, had good games from Jones and Cunningham again, but if we keep coughing up the ball like that we will keep losing.
              Gotta stop feeding the trolls.

we go 1-on-4 for that final terribly challenged long 3-pt attempt...
if four guys were coming at Jones then someone else was open & we didn't find them...
..and that was coming off that last time out - so should we have saved a time out?? ...sure seemed we didn't have a plan -

                that was a bad 2nd half - just 23 pts, 4 asst & 11 turnovers - Taylor & Shaw combine for 2 pts

Sorry to hear Geno on the post-game show whining about no-calls and officiating. Please....just execute better.

have to go back to 2002 for the last time we started 2-4 in our first six games...
in 2002 we started 2-7 - hope we don't match that

we're now averaging only a little over 58 points per game as a team..
that drops us to about 325th in Division I with a few of our tougher games coming up

                      Story from BradleyBraves.com
                      Saint Louis Downs Braves, 60-57
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Austin McBroom scored a career-high 26 points, capped by the game-winning 3-pointer with 7.4 seconds remaining, lifting Saint Louis to a 60-57 win against Bradley Saturday.

The article mentions that Auston Barnes was named to the All Tournament team, but it does not mention who the other players on the All Tournament team were, or whether there was a 1st and 2nd team, or just 1 ream, or how many players were named.

The 2nd half looked a lot like the last 2 years. Lots of isolation plays and let's see what happens. We might set one screen to get a guy open and that's it. We never have a guy run off multiple screens like most other teams do. It's just very frustrating to watch. KDB really hurt us in the 2 winnable games in Corpus Christie. After starting out fast out of the gate Omari has really fizzled out. Shaw is not an inside presence. And will someone please explain to me why we didn't try to get the ball out of McBroom's hands in SLU's last 2 possessions. I enjoyed my time in Corpus Christie. Just wish that would have included at least one W.

Another article from an independent source-
Saint Louis' Austin McBroom had a career high 26 points including a game-winning 3-pointer with 7.4 seconds left in the game. SLU changed its starting lineup this game after struggling against Mississippi State and had some late success.

And the story from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Did anyone else know that 3 of the regular starters for St. Louis did not start this game, and in fact those three regular starters did not play at all in the game (John Manning, Tanner Lancona and Davell Roby)?

This was never mentioned at all in the Dave Reynolds article. Could it have had an effect on the outcome of the game? We'll never know, but I think it's pretty significant when 3 regular starters for a team never play a minute against us, and no mention is even made.

yeah - that's pretty interesting - although SLU is a pretty inexperienced team like we are....yet they have already beaten THREE MVC teams - they could end up with more MVC wins than some MVC teams!

we had one guy out who has NOT started any games yet - and then we heard dozens of times how one other of our starters was "gassed" or had an "off game", even though he played most of the game...yet three of their guys who have started all or most of their games didn't even see the court and that was never used as an alibi
