I ran some numbers Jim was here 9 years IF he was still here this is what the annualized numbers would show after year 12.
Conference won loss. 98 wins a 105 losses
    Average conference finish 5.6
Conference tournament record 6.6 wins 16.5 losses
    Conference championships 0
Meaningful game after feb 1 for championship 0
How would the "progression" evolve with the current leadership at BU ?
With these annualized numbers I would say there would have been a drop in attendance and general interest at bu
This 12 year hypotheticle would demonstrate to me not a successful program and would question "how can we improve?"
also the numbers are skewed because this reflects a total of 9 actual years of work given the first 3 were not that much different than Geno's first 3[/QUOT
Correction stands on conferennce tourney win Los as 6.6 wins 9.9 loses

I am not sure how you know exactly what would have happened in these past 3 years if JL stayed, and I am sure we could find a hundred different opinions of that, but no matter how you try to denigrate his time at Bradley:
He had a winning record overall, and a 114-91 record over the last 6 seasons, and he did not play 300+ non-conference SOS's.
He had 5 straight winning seasons, averaging over 20 wins per game.
He never played as weak a schedule as we have played the last 3 years.
The MVC was stronger than it is now (Creighton has left)
He took a team to the Sweet 16 for the first time in over 50 years
And he won without ever using excuses like injuries, like we have seen constantly this year.
He maintained an average of over 9,000 fans per game over the 9 seasons
He set records for academic success at Bradley
And he repeatedly set records for donations and fundraising

All of that has quickly disappeared these last 3 years.

again - no matter how people want to trash all those years that JL was here - and feel free - we've heard it all 100 times....
but the instant someone starts doing it - a LOUD alarm goes off in everyone's head that the only conceivable reason anyone would still be trashing a guy who's been gone four years and doing well elsewhere - is to distract from the miserable record of the past 3.5 years since JL was fired...

And tho it extends to virtually all sports, the most painful disaster has been in basketball....
... we are soooo much worse in every single way --
we are headed for the fourth consecutive record breaking year in losses, low scoring, blowout losses, embarrassing home losses, attendance decline, Thursday nite exits, you name it - but anything bad you can name about the JL years - you can name IN SPADES for the last four seasons...
Fifty years from now people will be looking back saying - "can't believe the Geno Ford years were even worse than the late post-Hawk Albeck years.."

And some make Les much better than he was....Les should not be blamed for how things are going now but let's not make it like he was one of the best coaches ever either

Lefty, please, nobody here ever came close to saying that. He won more than he lost, Bradley was always competitive, and we had some very good seasons. That is all anyone has ever said. Many think he was just as qualified to build the program up again after the injury marred 2010-11 season. Even the administration announced that he would not be held accountable for the losing season in 2010-11, but then they turned around and fired him anyway. Dr. Cross even wrote a positive recommendation to the Pres. that he be given another year. So we all know why he was fired, and despite a few fans and a journalist who wanted him gone, it had nothing to do with winning or losing. When personalities drive these kinds of changes, it is never going to turn out good, and it hasn't.

I guess we'll hear several references in the next 24 hours to this being a "moral victory". ...

I know this is an old thread but saw that TCU advances in the Big 12 Tourney with a win over K-State...
They seemed like a decent non-conference opponent a few months ago and we were seeing our loss to them described as a moral victory
..but after they went undefeated playing a weak non-conference slate that included Bradley - then then have gone 4-14, barely a game out of last place in the Big 12 - and so in the end they wouldn't have really helped our RPI much anyway.

...and just for the heck of it - remember - this post (just a few slots higher in this thread) was way back in November - but clearly it was obvious (except we barely escaped Thursday with a 43 point game that got us to OT) - we were bad then and headed towards yet another record-breaking bad year - but you sure wouldn;'t have known it back then if you were reading the guys in the newspaper...

people bring up old stuff all the time..
I see people mentioning stuff from 5-10 years ago frequently - comments about Tyrone Cole-Scott, about Jim Les etc...
..capecod & Chico drag up stuff from the 1950's & 1960's even!
In fact, I am sure you know well there's a 600 page thread that has thousands of posts about something people said 6 and 8 and 10 years ago..oddly many of those people who used to have those old quotes as part of their "Signature" have removed them because some have eerily come true when they did not expect them to - LOL
I don't mind if people bring up old stuff - there sure isn't much to talk about that's current..

a couple other posts in this thread are pretty interesting to read...
one by a guy who tried like crazy to argue we really were a GOOD team, that Geno was hampered by injuries & suspensions, and that he was looking forward to or expecting a good season - guess he missed on his predictions,.
Then there was this comment - and you hit it right smack on the head...

I will certainly give you credit for clairvoyance...

Right. Not much to talk about now days. Hope things get better. Ah, the 50's and 60's. And the early to mid 80's and even a few after that. Know what you mean though Lefty. Rather not hear about the old bad stuff, just the good stuff.
