some of the direct links are not working but you can get to all of them by clicking the first link - then
-click the op.ed.gov link at the end of the article
-then at the right click "Get data for one institution"
-then search for Bradley
you can also search for any other school via the same search or compare Bradley to ISU or whatever
...btw I note nearly 100 people online & viewing the threads this morning at 8am - these are largely passionate Bradley fans who want a WIN on Sunday!
(meanwhile, I notice only five plus a "bot" on other sites)

Bradley Athletic Spending
Mike Cross tells WMBD that " playing games at Carver is not a revenue generator". He also says Braves Club donations will help add revenue.
First of all, the reason Carver will not generate revenue is that game attendance is in the tank.....Crowds of 3,000 butts in the seat or 5500 paid are a direct result of Bradleys total lack of success in Mens Basketball. We are losing primarily due to our inept coaching staff with bad in-game coaching and very marginal recruiting. 9,000 or 10,000 butts in the seats would make a total difference in revenue and probably could erase much of the Athletic Department $$ losses. We need a new AD and a new BB coaching staff.
Regarding the Braves Club donations, our Athletic Dept. has totally ignored establishing a good and convenient Braves Club room at Carver. Instead, all we get is a line at the concession counter at halftime where we can get free popcorn and cokes....BUT, no room to socialize in with other Braves Club members. The once important Braves Club is now an afterthought whose only purpose is to raise $$ but provide no meaningful input to the Athletic Department. The orginal by-laws of the BC have been completely ignored.

Members of the Braves Club and other donor organizations used to be shown the red carpet & treated like kings...
...would love to hear what others think but many feel like wiz - that this very important support & donor group has been ignored and - even worse - treated as an inconvenience..something ticket buyers are told they have to do to get their seats.

Wiz-are our recruits marginal for the MVC or just not properly coached? I, personally, think we have better players then what we have seen, but I don't believe they have been coached the best. I don't see our big guys w/ proper shooting technique-they haven't been taught to use the backboard. Watching Duke right now and the big guys all use the backboard or dunk the ball. We seem very timid.
As far as Thomas & Cunningham I think w/ proper coaching they could be above average MVC players-Also JC is still getting into shape from his surgery.

BB Nut...You may be correct to some extent but when I compare what we are recruiting now with our players in past years when we either contended or won the MVC, there is a world of difference. Our guys now can not come close to the talent of Mitchel Anderson, Voice Winters, Donald Reese, David Thirdkill, Anthony Manual, the Hawk, etc. These players brought their talent to BU and while our coaches then were able to develop and refine their talent and mold them into a cohesive unit, our coaches now bring us a completely lower level of talent and our coaches have shown very little ability to teach and develop these players. Whatever ability they have when they arrive, is all we are ever going to get with our current coaching staff.

Braves Club Philosophy
T-your statement could not be more on point. I was a Board Member of the Chiefs Club, as well as a lifetime member of CIBAC and on the NAA Board at Bradley. In a board meeting the then president of the club stated, ".....if all you are doing is selling raffle tickets and making a small donation, you are not doing what you should be on this board...". The next day I sent my resignation. He clearly does not understand that time and talent, as well as treasury, are important to community boards. (Two kids in college at the same time by the way)
Shortly following that the club shifted focus to become an "elite" club. Within a few years the club realized what it had done and hired consultants to try to bring fans back.
In fact I let my membership expire as I was insulted to get notification of events after they had happened. When I called to ask why I was getting postcards about pregame gatherings 3 days after the event they said they had my wrong address. Lame excuse as I get correspondence from the University at least 3 times per month and at the time served as affiliate faculty.
The only $$$'s I give to the club are the minimum membership. the rest of my maintenance, and other donation $$$, go to the specific colleges in the university we graduated from.
Now the club is spending money sending milk cartons to fans who no longer enjoy watching a loosing team play with only 2900 other fans.
It does not take a rocket scientist to figure this one out. The athletic department is a mess, failing by every measure conceivable. I hope it is recoverable but with out strong intervention soon, I am not sure.

I can completely agree with the talent difference. Sometimes I think we want to bring in big names (according to the experts which sometimes miss on a kid) instead of guys that want to play & learn the game correctly (someone like an Alec Peters). That is what makes a school like NIU, WSU, or CU so good. They always bring guys that fit their system and they identify the tweener that will work hard and fit in the system they play. I heard years ago that Dana Altman said he was more concerned w/ what he seen then what other people said about a player. Look at all of the players that the avg person never heard of play at CU and help them win year in & year out.
Remember a lot of those guys you mentioned weren't highly recruited but someone seen potential and went for it.
