It was actually posted in another thread. Dr. Cross was on WMBD radio Wednesday morning and made the comment that Bradley doesn't make any money on the $8 tickets they sell.

      did you see this??
..the average price of a small beer at NBA games has now cracked the $7.50 mark!
And it's over $10 at Knicks games..where their fans likely want to drink plenty..
New York Knicks fans have to spend the most money in the NBA if they want to drink a beer at a game.

Is this talk of a supposed move to D2 or D3 based on any real evidence, or is it all just speculation based on some of the moves of the athletic department?

Thinking this program will go to D-2 or D-3 is ludicrous. BU cannot afford to drop down to D-2 or D-3. People that are not in the know, tend to think this is coming. Well, it aint gonna happen, trust me. This program cannot go much lower. Changes are coming but I can't say when.

              there's a lot of D2's and D3's that get by just fine as D2's & D3's

That is true. But I don't believe BU would be one of them. It is very rare for a school to drop from D-1 to D-2 or D-3. It is common for schools to move up from D-2 or D-3 to D-1. There are a lot of egos and a lot of donations that go into BU basketball. Those will be two reasons they won't go to D-2. There is a lot of doom and gloom around the basketball program. Anything is possible, but because the basketball program is in the sewer, does not mean or suggest, at least to me, they are considering or will go to D-2.

I know, it does take a lot more $$ to compete at the DI level - just look at every team in the RPI rankings and where they rank in basketball performance kinda parallels exactly where they rank in athletioc department funding -
except a few programs like DePaul, Rutgers way underperform and Wichita, Butler ...overperform
Considering we are spending more than UNI we are definitely not getting our $$ worth

Most of the successful D-1 basketball programs, that have large budgets, also play football. It doesn't really matter if the football team is a good team or not. Take Kansas football for example. It is a money maker for the university, even though it is not very successful. When you bring a recruit in for a fall visit and take them to a football game with 8,000 to 100,000 people in attendance, it makes it an attraction. College football game day enhances the campus atmosphere. Not to be critical of soccer, but you just don't have that atmosphere with 300 people in the stands. That doesn't mean soccer isn't a good sport. Men's football and men's basketball are really the only revenue producing sports, most colleges have. Those that have both, typically have more revenue. Most of the more successful mid-major basketball programs, play football at either the FBS or FCS level.
