I also thought the uni coach was very calm for his 1st Valley game!
Did Jacobsen play for UNI just last year? how is he a head coach already??
imo Braves had too many panic and frantic shots down the stretch. got to give credit to the panthers for stepping up when needed.
we had no answer for the center, Coleman. is this how we are going to stack up vs the big men in the valley??
No, a different Ben Jacobsen played for UNI last year. This Ben Jacobsen was an assistant coach at UNI, who becvame head coach when McDermott went to Iowa State.
People need to recognize there is a huge difference between playing hard, and playing well...

"There are thing known and unknown and in between are the Doors"
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Northern Iowa big men Grant Stout and Eric Coleman combined for 33 points and 29 rebounds and the Panthers (10-2, 1-0) rode a quick start to a 76-65 Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball victory versus visiting Bradley (9-4, 0-1) Wednesday night in front of 6,511 fans at the McLeod Center. Stout led four UNI players in double figures with 17 points and added a game-high 15 rebounds, while Coleman followed with 16 points and 14 boards. Guards Travis Brown and Brooks McKowen chipped in with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Bradley junior point guard Daniel Ruffin scored a game-high 20 points, becoming the sixth Brave to score at least 20 points in a game this season. Junior guard Jeremy Crouch added 14 points and senior guard Will Franklin added 12. Led by Stout and Coleman, the Panthers outrebounded the smaller Braves 45-28. Much of the rebounding discrepancy was a result of the rebounds
IMO.........38 minutes for DR and JC is just way too-much! Did anyone hear why Aw did not play ........I don't see why he couldn't have guarded Travis Brown for some rest to the starter's? I think maybe SS injury is not fully ready for prime time...because last night would have been a good match-up for him on coleman...he would have done no -worse!
Matchup concerns were the reason Andrew Warren didn't play. Coach Les was upset most of the game with Zach. Apparently they had prepared some defensive and offensive schemes for the UNI game that he just didn't get done, so he sat a lot.
If you are going to play a 4 guard style, there will be some games like last night when the other team feasts on inside stuff. Give it to UNI, with the boost they got from their crowd, the tremendous volume generated in their small arena, good shooting and rebounding, it was a miracle Bradley wasn't blown out from start to finish. One more inside player (such as POB, Sikes, etc) could have made a huge diference.
The kids made an amazing comeback under tough circumstances. Jim said he was proud of them, and so am I.
Yeah, I watched the first few minutes and saw Bradley was losing by 10 pts early. Then I went to the airport to pick-up a friend. When I got back, I saw Bradley had narrowed the gap to 5. I was really impressed Bradley hung in there and almost came back. Just need to fine tune some things in my opinion.
ZA head is going to come and go in games, but I think the kid is going to be fine.
