Uc Davis beat eastern illinois at eiu... It's a team loaded with seniors and probably should win a game like that more handily...

But they were betting underdogs and a win is a win.

Best of luck to them and coach les for a big season

it is likely a whole lot harder to recruit to a school like UC-Davis that wasn't even DI a few years ago - and yet they have DI caliber players who can go on the road and win...so the silly excuses about how Geno just hasn't had enough time or that he's battling a recruiting problem that goes way back are pretty uninformed and lame...

Once again - just a few years back we were right there with Creighton, Wichita State, and if you go back 10-15 years we were right there with Butler, VCU, Dayton, even Gonzaga...
but those guys & others have played all their cards right and we have squandered any such lofty standings we might have ever had -
as recently as 5-6 years ago we were playing in the post-season, winning 20 games, going to the post-season, drawing 10,000-11,000 - the chances to make the next step were right there within reach...
and those in charge even promised us they'd get it done....but sadly we've gone further the other way than we'd have needed to get to where Creighton or Wichita are...
we've sunk to the bottom of the MVC and become an anchor there with crowds smaller than Evansville or even Loyola are drawing.
Nope - we've been led down the wrong path and a handful of our fans pushed hard to get us here -
unfortunately they seem to want to even further in that same direction until there are no fans left...

I am pulling for UCD to have a big year.

I would think most by alums and fans would. I hope he wins 20+ games b4 the tourneys and makes one of the two major post seasons.

        Any road win is good.

He needs a big year as Hawkins is key as are his other seniors.. He needs major post season to most likely buy himself 4-5 more years to reload and win big again. I'm rooting for him

It is hard to recruit for UCD, but not just for the reasons that are obvious. I had a chance to talk to Coach Les and Coach Vogt for a while tonight about it. UCD has extremely high admission standards. One of the kids they wanted to sign this fall was not admissible to UCD, but was accepted by Harvard and committed there.
But they should have a good season, and they have a couple kids redshirting who will come in next year, along with a good recruiting class, and a skilled 6'10" transfer from Butler who will help..

Alec Peters is looking like an All American in this, his sophomore season. he just carried Valparaiso to a 3-1 record on the season with 19 points, 7 rebounds in their game tonight-
Box score for the Valparaiso Beacons vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions NCAAM game from November 21, 2014 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.

He is Valpo's leading scorer with 17 ppg.

Alec is averaging about 17 ppg - we've only had 3 players since the Molinari era average that much over a full season - Gilbert, Warren, Lemon

ex-Bradley Brave Shayok Shayok has been out since December - has a shoulder injury that will unfortunately cause him to miss the rest of the season.
Because of his transfer, he does not have a redshirt year available unless he gets a special waiver from NCAA, so he won't be able to get a redshirt for this season and will have only one season of eligibility left next year.

He was having a good season & was among the league leaders in points, rebounds, and FG% when he went out -
he had been transformed by UMKC's head coach, Kareem Richardson into to a low post player and away from being a wing
player who could launch 3's (he only shot 20% here) or score on the dribble-drive without turning it over, and was excelling down low with his combination of size & quickness...
