  • Positives (If anyone can find them)

I feel this team is doomed. There is no basketball reason for Geno to finish this season. However uber-pessimism is depressing. I want to start a thread for people to discuss things that they have seen or are looking forward to seeing. I don't want this to become another thread that falls into the "fire Geno, Glasser, Cross, etc." style discussion, because there are a lot of those, rightly so too.

So my positives: Thomas looks like a very good offensive player. He has great rotation and form on his jump shot and his athleticism/size will allow him to be a good scorer. He might struggle defensively and the game looks a little fast for him right now, but he is an 18 year old freshman and I look forward to watching him for the next few years.

Cunningham is a similar player to watch. When he has guys that can throw him passes that he can handle while on the move, he is very good. He too has good size and athleticism, and is dealing with the higher speed and execution of this level. His D is average right now, but I think he will be a terror on that end. And if we could throw accurate lobs, he could throw down 3-4 alley oops a game.

It was nice to see Greer shoot well.

Jones should go try out for the globe trotters or the and1 basketball tour when his college career is over. If people were ready to catch and shoot he would have finished with about 4 more assists tonight, and he looks like the only player that can create shots out of nothing right now. His jumpers weren't going down but his shot is so quick with such little effort that I could easily see him knock down 5 or 6 threes in some game this year.

Morgan looked better at times tonight.

Nate Wells should start. I have been firmly in the camp that he isn't talented enough to play at this level, and still feel that way. However, his motor is never in question and the only time the crowd got into the game was the two times he came into the game. Energy is definitely needed for this team.

That's all I had. Anyone else care to add anything?

I agree at times Morgan looked decent??¦.he put the ball on the floor going to the basket and looked decent doing it??¦

I think offensively we can be better as a team??¦we will get more offensive rebounds too

Jones can score in a variety of ways..and Grier is shooting better??¦.so it will be interesting to see Barnes and TS on the floor??¦

I think the more Wells is on the floor the more you will see his faults though??¦.a few minutes hear and there could be good though??¦??¦you have to love his intensity...

IMO, Morgan has been a disappointment so far. He was a Top 100 junior college player, and said to be very skilled offensively and defensively. But his skill level around the basket, for a guy with a big, NBA-type body is way below Tyshon Pickett, and he fould out in 19 minutes guarding a couple weak and smaller bigs tonight. He reminds me of a shorter David Collins.

Jones is the best of the new guys, so far. Yet, he should be more of a role player if we had better skill guards. Omari is the best shooter, and the game may have been a 40 point blowout if not for him.

The freshmen JC and DT are not impressing me as much as their hype suggested.

Shaw was a major bust at Illinois, and he is possibly the most overrated player in Bradley's history. He may be good for 4-5 ppg when we get in the MVC games, I don't expect much more.

Sutherland and Amerson have yet to play, but as I have become accustomed to, the overhype is so extreme from our media, that I am not going to believe they can play until I see more of them.

Omari & Jones give us adequate but not outstanding 3-pt shooting .. but I am hardly willing to believe this was much more than an aberration since we've seen how badly we shoot most of the time.
..but there's very little to get optimistic about with our frontcourt.

The 5400 attendance has to be the worst opening nite attendance in at least 70 years - but then, was anyone at all surprised? We've seen this coming for over 3 years...
Last year was over 7200 and historically opening nite has always drawn well - even vs. the DII Kingsville we drew over 8000, and as recently as 5 years ago we regularly drew over 10K.
Just more proof of the mark this crew has put on Bradley basketball.

No lines when you go to the can--easy to move to lower seats--nothing missed if you go out to smoke at halftime--no problem getting out of the parking lot
          Bradley football--undefeated again this year

I've only got two for this travesty of a game:

            1. Jones is the one ray of sunshine on a dark, depressing team. I can only imagine what he would do with a team of good players and/or decent coaching. Just like Walt Lemon.

            2. One day closer to the end of the season and I can only hope the end of Geno's tenure.

Morgan will never give us more than a couple points in between the fouls...not sure how anyone can see him as a plus at this level...
But the most painful things of all are that we have blown so many millions of $$ ramrodding all the admin's bad decisions thru & extended the coach a couple more years - that now the Board of Trustees will NOT allow any contract buyouts and so we are stuck as we are- so get used to it - you asked for it, now you got it and you're gonna have to live with it for a couple more years.

I doubt many fans are going to give any more donations to this admin that has squandered such a huge wealth of funds given over the past decade & raised mostly by the former admin & staff. Worse than the Keystone Kops - more like the 3 Stooges...yet some fans still don't see it if it hits them in the face.

In terms of positives, I thought we showed at the beginning of the game that it is possible for us to play well, although it didn't last very long.

I thought Cunningham was slightly more comfortable.

It was a breeze getting out of the parking lot.

                That's about all I have.

The only positive I can find is Geno has made Stan Albeck look good.

The President & Athletic Director have told us all along how much better we would be with this hire - especially if you give him time to run out all the old players and get his own in here.
The PJStar and a few agenda-driven blind fans have cheered along in lock-step the whole way with their noses so far up you-know-where they can't see the truth

Now we have the worst budgetary and athletic performance situation and problems this university has had in my lifetime - and we should trust these same people to show us the facts and lead us out of here? Ain't gonna happen - the entire Board of Trustees should resign and step out of the way as they have handed the keys to the inmates..then make some solid hires before Bradley goes the way of Bernie Madoff or Peoria Armory

The positive I remember from last night is the kid who made all four shots in the around-the-world promotion. He got a free pizza. Perhaps he should get a scholly, or be brought on as a coaching consultant to teach how to make free throws or lay-ups.

It is no joke to say that most junior high teams shoot free throws better.

One positive is we won't have to hold our breath to see if we compete for an MVC title by Year 4 like everyone who backed Geno had hoped and even believed...and I was a big sucker...great speaker...poor coach.

I thought our offensive schemes the first 2 seasons were due to limited ability and players not being comfortable in the roles they had to play.
No excuse this year - if our offense is as bad as everyone is saying, then even the Chicago Bears offense looks fluid.
