I feel this team is doomed. There is no basketball reason for Geno to finish this season. However uber-pessimism is depressing. I want to start a thread for people to discuss things that they have seen or are looking forward to seeing. I don't want this to become another thread that falls into the "fire Geno, Glasser, Cross, etc." style discussion, because there are a lot of those, rightly so too.
So my positives: Thomas looks like a very good offensive player. He has great rotation and form on his jump shot and his athleticism/size will allow him to be a good scorer. He might struggle defensively and the game looks a little fast for him right now, but he is an 18 year old freshman and I look forward to watching him for the next few years.
Cunningham is a similar player to watch. When he has guys that can throw him passes that he can handle while on the move, he is very good. He too has good size and athleticism, and is dealing with the higher speed and execution of this level. His D is average right now, but I think he will be a terror on that end. And if we could throw accurate lobs, he could throw down 3-4 alley oops a game.
It was nice to see Greer shoot well.
Jones should go try out for the globe trotters or the and1 basketball tour when his college career is over. If people were ready to catch and shoot he would have finished with about 4 more assists tonight, and he looks like the only player that can create shots out of nothing right now. His jumpers weren't going down but his shot is so quick with such little effort that I could easily see him knock down 5 or 6 threes in some game this year.
Morgan looked better at times tonight.
Nate Wells should start. I have been firmly in the camp that he isn't talented enough to play at this level, and still feel that way. However, his motor is never in question and the only time the crowd got into the game was the two times he came into the game. Energy is definitely needed for this team.
That's all I had. Anyone else care to add anything?
