  • Well done BU administration

After repeatedly blowing the opportunity to secure some very good coaches and ending up drastically overpaying for Geno....Your legacies are secure with a pathetic lead sports program.

The calling card program of BU, check the Wall Street Journal today, has been systematically destroyed. Why .....? Because the best interests of the University came behind an immature inexperienced President' s judgement

So you fired the previous coach and AD because they didn't adhere to the immature high school antics of JG......hired aMBB coach at a bloated salary.....and now the university is suffering financially, the faculty is revolting and we get to watch Div III and UT Arlington out play and out hustle BU.

Geno can't recruit and can't prepare a team to play.....and coaching seems to escape him.

it will take a while longer before they see it but someone's bound to tell them...
..but even then certain people tend to stick with their decisions (the old keep trying over & over and expecting different results) even when it's obvious they are very bad - and I am afraid that's what will happen..

This is without a doubt the all-time lowest point in the history of Bradley basketball. The admins at Bradley have to stop reading the message boards and bemoaning and stressing over what people are saying, and take a real good look at what they have done, and how they have destroyed one of the great basketball programs in the country.

The only question left is: how much more damage will they do before someone at Bradley wakes up and realizes that massive changes are needed, and people there who are making $300,000 per year all the way up to $800,000-$900,000 a year do not deserve their jobs any more. They have likely harmed Bradley beyond all repair.

Well chronicled on this board in other posts.

Which line of incompetence would you like to explore ?
          Hiring coaches
          Financial mismanagement
Failure to attract sufficient incoming student classes

And boy oh boy.....that Walt lemon sure was overrated last year....laughable. And I am sure he won't be missed this year ...Like many suggested.

            Seriously?

It is common knowledge, and admitted to by high level Bradley people that Bradley was turned down by:

            Scott Sutton (ORU)
            Rob Jeter (UW-M)
            Sidney Johnson (Princeton)
            Dan Monson (Long Beach State)
Paul Lusk (was an assistant at Purdue, now HC at MSU)
Dave Rice (was an assistant at UNLV, now HC at BYU)

Others who were interested in the job, but were told we would not consider them, or who we contacted and they were not interested in Bradley because of "issues" at Bradley:
Jerrance Howard (now assistant at Kansas)
Matthew Graves (asststant at Butler, now head coach at UAB)
Craig Neal (assistant at New Mexico, now Head Coach there)
Rodney Terry (was assistant at Texas, now head coach at Fresno State)

I knew coaches turned us down??¦..I guess the statement repeatedly blowing opportunities made me think we didn't hire people who wanted the job??¦..I know the hiring process has been bad the last two times??¦..

GF's contract was for 5 years, correct? So, with our extreme financial situation, we probably could not buy out his last year, could we? Otherwise, could we start a drumbeat with a list of potential replacement coaches, or would anyone with strong experience or potential even come here anymore?

I have been pretty good with my predictions, so here goes another one-
I think you are most likely right. Assuming that Geno's contract has not already been extended, and there are rumors that it has, I see it as pretty unlikely we would even be able to buy out a single 5th year of his contract at $800,000 considering the abysmal financial state the president has created.

But if there was enough of a groundswell of fan support for a change, that would be the only possibility. It the administration or the Board of Trustees sees that they will lose even more money by standing pat (lost ticket sales, lost maintenance fees, lost donations, other lost revenues from advertising, TV and media rights, etc., which have already become nearly worthless, and other lost revenues), then it could happen. We would not be able to hire a big name coach, but I believe an energetic young assistant like Jerrance Howard (who couldn't even get a call-back from Bradley 3 years ago, would gladly take the job for 1/4 of what we are currently playing our coach, and IMO he could turn this program around.

don't be so sure - something else significant probably has to happen before a good coach like Jerrance would take the job...
remember - many other coaches - were called or came and were interested in the job in 2011 - declined it once they heard the terms they were presented with by those doing the hiring.
There's a few things that would make the job more appealing and even the PJS will catch onto them soon...

                        Local Brave Fan

I am so glad I dropped by season tickets this year. I have had 4 season tickets for many years and have been a Braves Club Member for many years but I will not be back as long as this guy is the coach. I will save my money until a product worth watching comes along and it will be a long time before that happens. The Great Bradley program of the past appears to be gone.

I agree - sad...sad that we are losing gobs of lifelong Bradley fans with this fiasco that has been engineered...to the satisfaction a few who are clueless and who are just now figuring out we are NOT going the right way...
but for we Bradley fans who plan to stay and still be at every game - it is even more sad...

One more quote from the HOOPS articles just a couple days ago
(remember he also made the claim that this may be the best frontcourt Bradley has had since Anderson, Thirdkill, & Reese):
"..unlike last year, you'll see stretches where we look pretty good.
..Bradley fans should quickly forget the difficulties of recent seasons."

Well Done Joanne Glasser and Gerry Shaheen

                            A prediction:

JG will throw Cross under the bus after the season and will hire a new AD. The new guy will tolerate Geno for one more bad year and then fire him. IMO the new AD MUST establish himself with JG as a very strong guy who will run the Ath. Dept. without micromanaging from JG. If this doesn't happen, we gain nothing.

One other possibility...JG could resign to accept another job after pressure from a divided board of trustees.

I agree that is a likely scenario. I also believe the next AD is someone who may already be here, since we can't afford an impact hire.
