  • National Letter of Intent signing day Wednesday, Nov. 12

The 2015 early signing period starts Wednesday, Nov. 12 and runs through Wednesday, Nov. 19.

It appears unlikely that Bradley will sign a recruit in the early signing period, but we'll announce it if they do. Also, we'll try to post all the signings in the MVC.
If anyone is aware of a NLI signing by any of the MVC teams, let us know.

Official word from Bradley Head Coach Ford- no NLIs this fall-

Dave Reynolds also mentions a couple possible Bradley recruits-

Kamau Stokes, a 5-foot-11 point guard from Fork Union Military Academy (Va.), has scheduled a visit to BU from Nov. 23-25, when the Braves play a pair of home games against North Carolina A&T and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Stokes played on back-to-back state champions for two different Maryland high schools and then signed with Toledo. However, a coaching change prompted him to ask for a release and enroll in the prep school.

And... 5-11 Marcus LoVett of Chicago Morgan Park and the Mac Irvin Fire AAU team. Bradley coaches Ford and Ronald ???Chin??? Coleman have strong connections with both programs.
But it could be tough for the Braves to get far with LoVett, a flashy left-hander who holds scholarship offers from Kansas, Illinois, Tennessee, Georgetown and DePaul.

His high school coach has called LoVett the best point guard out of Chicago since Derrick Rose. With offers from Kansas, Illinois, Tennessee, Georgetown and DePaul, I'll guess our chances at him are not real good.

Seems like the only way LoVett comes to Bradley is if his grades are iffy and it scares away the big boys. If he doesn't get good enough test scores until real late like Taylor we might be able to scoop him up. Doubtful, but like Loyd said, "you're telling me there's a chance"
        Gotta stop feeding the trolls.

National Letter of Intent Signing Day....

Just what we need! No fall signings at all...Only one recruit visited...I guess we don't have enough point guards. What about a SCORING big man and a shooter? Lets wait until the spring for more bad news.

not good news - after our guys spent lots of hours recruiting all summer & fall, driving all over, and beating the bushes to try to get someone - then we strike out altogether...

Not sure where you and Wiz are coming from. It's only a strike out if we sign no help in the Spring. We only have one ride so you guys need to get a life and quit belaboring non issues. Bring this back next Spring if we sign no one.Don't give us there is only leftovers in the Spring. Does Josh come to mind. pretty sure Jones signed in the spring as did Morgan. So dry those tears and cry next Spring if we get shut out.

But here is what I think bothers T and wiz, and it should concern fans a little- we have never targeted so many good players early as we did this year. My records show that we offered somewhere between 25-30 players, about half of them were point guards. Almost all have committed elsewhere, and most of the remaining do not appear to be considering Bradley any more. As a result, we now see Bradley targeting junior college guards again for the late signing period. Generally, juco players that sign late are role players at best. Anyone who thinks we can build a sustained, successful program by constantly relying on juco players is mistaken. We already have 10 scholarship players who will be gone in 2 years, and only 3 who might still be here. IMO, the best hope to turn things around for sustained success is with 4-year players with high upside. We saw a glimmer of that with Thomas and Cunningham last year (both of them were targeted and recruited very early, though Josh waited until spring), but we need more.

Yes, Cunningham signed in the spring, but he was recruited by Bradley a full year earlier, and almost signed in the early signing period last year. He ended up signing with Bradley because we stayed with him for so long. Jones and Morgan did sign late, but will they be difference makers? Do they have the upside of a 4-year player? By Geno's own admission, our recruiting has not been as successful as he wanted. Kirk has referred to the "many recruiting misses".
Are you saying you are satisfied with where our recruiting is?

I don't want this staff to sign anyone. I've seen the players they sign save it for the next staff.

                      Wily,

I would be surprised if at least two more scholarships are not available next spring. I know BU has historically not recruited over players, but where have we stood in conference standings the last several years.

I am happy we got Josh and hope he has a great career here-
but we clearly wanted to get someone this fall and offered many, and would have had a couple more open scholarships this spring anyway.

For DR to say that we already have a full roster and so don't really need to recruit isn't consistent with what we've heard that you NEVER stop recruiting and trying to land the best players, even if you are all out of scholarships!

plus every other of the MVC teams has filled their alotment of scholarships with recruiting this fall - a few even are oversigning.
Of course we could possibly get a blue chipper this spring but odds are small...most schools use the prime summer & fall recruiting periods to get the best players during the early signing period - if you don't and have to rely on who is left over in the spring, then it's riskier.

I have always conceded it is hard to recruit to Bradley & central IL, despite some people making claims that Peoria & Central IL are amazing hot spots that every Chicago kids dreams of coming to...
So I know you have to take a few chances and thus occasionally strike out -
Time will tell, but from what we have seen thus far, we have not recruited the caliber of players & scorers that we had depart the past few years ...someone needs to step up...

I'm pretty sure the staff never quits recruiting.....but I don't really get in to the all hype on recruiting. You recruit some harder than other others and make more offers than spots....at the end of the day the only thing that matters is the win-loss record on the court.

If you snag a top 100 player or two but don't win it really doesn't matter...

if it was hard to recruit last year - the way the roster is stacked - it is & will be much harder to recruit this year...
that won't change between now & next spring as nearly 80% of our roster is presently listed as JUNIORS
nine of our scholarship guys are juniors

Any recruit looking for a place to play next year could see that there's a strong probability that
coming to Bradley would place him behind a number of returning seniors - and it's less likely a kid would want to risk joining a lineup with that many returning seniors & experienced players ahead of him.

I do however believe there's a good chance that a player like Nate Taphorn, Max Bielfeldt, or someone else, like Peyton Allen could become
available by next spring - so I would take those guys in a heartbeat - especially if either Nate or Max would be immediately eligible as grad students.

                            BTW -
Illinois gets LOI from Jalen Coleman, otherwise very slow with few MVC reports yet of confirmed signings..
just this one - UNI signs four, including one that is a surprise & was not previously mentioned as a UNI commit - LINK

One interesting signing is in Bradley baseball...
"Also signing with Bradley was Washington senior infielder Christian Dominguez,
who at BU will join his father, Braves head coach Elvis Dominguez"

...so the BU baseball coach signs his son

as for the MVC basketball signings - the two biggest surprises are
-one previously unmentioned name for UNI - Aarias Austin
-and the top Loyola kid looks like he's reneging...
