    100% politics, 0% sports success
Focus on WINNING. I heard nothing about winning. WIN!
    Compete. Defend. Rebound. Win.

ok - so we have done relatively well in Cross Country for a couple years - but one title - something basketball fans call "lightning in a bottle"..
and we have talked many times how Bradley holds a distinct advantage since we use all our track scholarships to recruit for Cross Country as well and then just tank track and accept last place every year....

and surely they know that they have to do better in basketball or all the rest barely matters...

      as for softball - seriously??
we haven't been above .500 since 2007, and have absolutely NO post-season success ever
But if that's definition of success then I can see why we are where we are...

No wonder Dr. Cross didn't want to talk about:
Men's basketball (losing records under Dr. Cross since he arrived at Bradley)
Women's basketball (one single winning season 18-16 in 2011-12, then they allowed the coach to walk)
Baseball- an abysmal record of failure- not one single winning season since Dr. Cross has been here, and no winning seasons since the coach was hired 6 years ago)
Volleyball- now 1-25, but also not a single winning season since Dr. Cross has been at Bradley.

But he says Bradley does softball well? Mike Cross has never seen a Bradley softball team have a winning season.
In fact, the Bradley softball program has not had a single winning season since 2007, which incidentally was the last season before Joanne Glasser took over at Bradley.
That's what he calls doing well? That really is polishing a turd.

Yes, Women's Cross Country did well this year, the men not quite as well. But the recent history of cross country has mostly been mediocre, and the other sports have been mostly bottom dwellers.

Cross=Glasser's yes man. Start firing some of the worthless coaches that have been hired under your watch and prove me wrong.

Yes, you are right. He is parsing out the rare glimmer of something slightly positive among the morass of bad things going on at Bradley during his tenure.

That is like saying Hitler has his good qualities.

This problem is due to their own mismanagement and incompetence. They have run a great, well-supported basketball program into the ground, actual attendance is 1/4 of what it used to be, and because there are so many open and unsold seats in the lower bowl, smart people have given up buying season tickets or individual game tickets, and instead buy the bargain-basement game-day $8 specials, and walk down and sit in the Platinum courtside seats.

I expect their next move will be to insist the Civic Center ushers turn into security guards, and police the lower bowl seats like the usher-nazis at the Scottrade Center do, and keep the squatters from moving down. Their thinking is it will force the fans to buy the overpriced $60 lower bowl tickets.
But just like everything else they do, it will backfire and those people will just stop coming.

                    Cross

How would like to be in JG and DC position? Your first big hire is performing terribly and it shows the both of you are in way over your head based upon the results of your department. The board of trustees hands are tied also! How do you get rid of someone you hired to run your business the University? We all know the Board is full of very successful people who can't just admit they made a big mistake that would make them look bad. In the real world if you run a business and the results aren't there you make a change and fire someone but in the world of contracts and guarantees you can't. You can't just fire them for poor results because you might have to still pay them for a couple years or a full buyout of what's left on the contract. They will be here for awhile!!

It would be cheaper to fire them in the long run.

10 minutes of pure spin & BS

-claims we're doing well - dwells on one and only one sport - Women's Cross Country - but admits they didn't get to the NCAA Tourney - although doesn't admit it doesn't help the revenue situation one iota

-then spends 5 minutes saying the only tickets worth selling at the Civic Center are the real high priced ones - once those are sold - any additional seat sold gives declining revenue - and implying any sold in the upper deck don't help or don't matter at all...

I am absolutely astounded by these comments - Bradley's once HUGE and proud fan base basically reduced to a goose that lays golden eggs and they want to kill it & cut it in half RIGHT NOW to get all they can right now up front.
He shows no concern, no remorse, no regrets whatsoever that they have run off 4,000 to 5,000 long time, loyal, and donating fans - and as the guy who wrote the letter last week to PJStar and Bake have said - they pretty much said "good riddance"...
and then mock those who give up season tickets with this childish ploy...

Dr. Cross interview from 3 years - LINK

talks about Bradley being outstanding nationally lots of promises for not just basketball but all sports reaching higher levels of achievement..
championship experience that we'd be better right away..
                          great alumni & fan support
the upgrade in facilities have helped recruiting tremendously ...."no doubt about it"...
..the future of Bradley Athletics looks bright - if it were a stock, you'd want to buy it

I must admit, the goals were good, he promised what people would want to hear...but how are we three years later?
