10 minutes? Really? I remember a time when Dick Versace would be on for an hour taking phone calls talking basketball. That is another part of the entire program that is falling down. They don't seem to have a clue on how to generate excitement and a fan following for the program. I believe in doing the little things that build up to make a total success. This is one of them.

Maybe that's why they fired Versace after a 32-3 season. He helped generate interest in the program and was winning. The start of the downfall of Bradley basketball.

Bradley's record going back 40 years has been unfortunate, but they just have NOT stood behind their coaches...
With a track record like this - ya gotta wonder if the job looks as good to candidates as it should...

Joe Stowell still wanted to coach when the program was essentially torn out of his hands...and it happened again a couple years back - and even if both cases were justified, they could have been done in a better manner.

Versace, of course, had committed a couple of incredibly minor discretions - but he wouldn't kiss-*** to the NCAA bullies and wouldn't cooperate - so despite zero evidence they claimed he was not honest - but again our admin chose NOT to stand by him so he told them to take their job & shove it - and has done quite nicely ever since. I agree with Chico - this was a situation where we could have pulled together, stood by DV and weathered the issues, and who knows...

Albeck was canned pretty unceremoniously and has never - and likely will never be back

Molinari firing might have been the harshest. Everyone knew he had a couple great recruiting classes in a row, but that wasn't enough and he was canned.
He has also done quite nicely since then...and despite all the bad teams he's coached since then and made better - you don't see many 25 point blowouts!

JL, of course, was dismissed on a Sunday morning after his only losing season in the prior SIX..

Here is a recap of the first Geno Ford Live show. He came on at 8:40 AM, and signed off exactly at 8:50 AM, for an on-air time of only 10 minutes. Geno was on the phone to Greg Batton and Dan Diorio, and not in the studio. It's difficult to get to any real meaningful information in just 10 minutes of on-air time, especially when the hosts interrupt to voice their own opinions and thoughts. Dan gave some of his observations of the Augustana game, and Greg also took time to tell about his son's first biddy basketball game.

Greg Batton started the discussion with Geno about the Augustana game by saying, "Augustana is a fantastic basketball team". Geno listed several other reasons why his team did not play well and lost-
-we have a lot of new guys who struggled
-after Bradley won the secret scrimmage "with an unnamed opponent", the players were overconfident
-we chose not to play any zone against Augustana, because we wanted our players to learn to play man-to-man
-the big men were complacent
-Mike Shaw did not tell the coaches he was in pain from his toe injury because he is tough and wanted to play

Then Geno pointed out that Syracuse, Ohio State, and Arizona have all lost exhibition games, so we shouldn't make too much of it.
He also pointed out that the San Antonio Spurs won the NBA Championship last season, and then went winless in their exhibitions this season.

Geno then spoke very briefly about the next game Friday against "UTA" (Texas-Arlington) saying, "their 3 guards are really, really good".

Finally, he said Mike Shaw is OK and will practice Wednesday, and probably play Friday.

They need to keep Batton muzzled during any sports discussion. To partially quote Bob Knight, "Your just illuminating your relative lack of knowledge about the game of basketball."

Greg has said many times he knows nothing about basketball, specifically Bradley.

I agree that more Dan and less Greg (or all Dan) when Geno is on is a fantastic idea.

Agree with you and Chico and have told my wife so many times she hates hearing it. All Dan and Greg just listens. When we have so little time please don't let Greg waste it with meaningless questions.

Friday is indeed a chance to quiet the critics and get the enthusiasm rolling - but let's not start it off with a bunch of "they're really a great team" stuff...

This sounds like he's making excuses already for what's coming.
