Of course 3 years ago when people (myself) included brought up the idea of dismissing Nate (even questioning his original signing) and not renewing his scholarship we are called out as a**holes....

people are finally seeing WHAT IT TAKES to be an above average D1 team...its is a business and feelings will get hurt.

the hard work/positive morale roles should be left solely with the walk-ons.

This is the same with Illinois fans condemning Tom Crean for "Creaning" kids off the program...yet they are getting number 1 seeds in the tournament and Illinois has been in a long stretch of bad to mediocre (but this year they should be above average...maybe?).

a college team need to be treated like any other team - a HS team, a travel team, a pro team...
in that from year to year the coach has to be free to make whatever choices to give him the best team.
If that means "Creaning" or "Janking a scholarship" then that's what needs to be done, but...
but if the coach does it too much he's going to cause even more harm as too much continual roster turnover means you're always trying to play with inexperienced and "replacement" players or a roster with way too many players in the same class...which I feel we have a little of that problem now...

        +1

also potential recruits may find you not so loyal or trustworthy if you have a track record of running players off.

I think if a player busts his butt and gives you everything he has, he deserves to stay regardless of how things work out on the court. But if he does not take care of his classwork, has law entanglements, or is someone whose negativity is a cancer, I'd say they are not living up to their end of the deal, and can be shown the door. Is there a grey area there? Sure.

            Truth

I think it is great that the fans are willing to send a letter to the editor to express their concern about the state of Bu basketball. I personally would have liked to have seen this letter be about the state of the program since the take over by JG and her regime not about the playing time of a fifth year senior. Great kid but his playing time has no effect on this program because we all know he was not recruited to be a game changer. This letter would have really stirred up things if all it talked about how JG and her regime has destroyed a school with a tremendous tradition.

I tend to agree with what you say, and I know people have sent letters to the PJ Star and to the Board of Trustees with those concerns.
I actually wonder if this regime even knows what the Bradley basketball tradition and fan support was like in the past? And just how far we've fallen? Or do they even care?

I think there's some concerns..but the repeated comments we see suggest they believe we are already doing great - winning championships, kicking butt with our mascot, planning all kinds of new events like the one on the Riverfront, and just one or two good wins away from filling the stands with 11,000 fans.
And that they seem willing to listen to or respond to only certain fans of their choosing that keep rooting for the bus to keep speeding toward the ditch!

I guess that's what bothers me the most - is the disconnect between what they seem to think is a really good situation that is just a heartbeat away from being all-time great - and the reality that Bradley's basketball program is so far worse than it's ever been in 60-70 years and getting worse fast with fans disappearing faster than Chicago Bears fans and a new mascot & few new events are clearly not the answer -
Just look at BU baseball - year after year of historically bad seasons, then we give an extension and raise as if they want even more of the same..
I guess it doesn't do any good to voice an opinion - people seem they have already made up their minds - the worst 3-year stretch of Bradley basketball since the end of the ALBECK ERA - and maybe even longer, then I guess we're gonna have to wait 'til even the hand-picked, hand-groomed Board of Trustees is forced to act.

+10000. But then again it wasn't this admin that fired a coach after a 32-3 season.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Ha, ha. Even the 3rd one you mentioned wouldn't have been dumb enough to do that.
