Geno's record at Kent State should have no bearing on evaluating his performance here, and should not buy him one extra day if his results do not meet expectations of the administration or the fans.
I could name hundreds of past and present Division I head coaches who had even far greater success at a lower level before getting a job coaching at a Division I school, and failing. Former coaches here have been fired by this administration, despite achieving far greater success than we now see rewarded with coaching extensions.
In my opinion, the only reason Geno might be treated differently than the last coach, or all the other coaches at Bradley who have been fired by this administration (including numerous basketball assistants and other sports' head coaches, trainers, and other department personnel) is the irrational personal decision making by our administration where they seem to reward losing because they can't accept that they are part of the problem and won't admit their own failures.
Despite the huge increase in spending on the athletic programs, and the state-of-the-art $50 million upgrade of facilities, can anyone name a single coach that Bradley has hired under the current administration who has had significant, sustained success, or even one single successful NCAA appearance (or any postseason event that can't be achieved by "buying into it")?
Men's basketball, Women's basketball, Volleyball, Softball, Baseball, Tennis, and nearly every minor sport every year have all had losing records for almost the entire tenure of this administration. The cumulative records of every sport, except men's soccer (ironically the only coach not hired by the current admins) is too ugly to print here. Last place finishes have become commonplace every year in one or more sports.
When is enough, enough? Bradley has become the laughingstock of the Missouri Valley, and fans and donations are on life support. The end is near.
