You have to go all the way back to Chuck Osborn who averaged 21.6 wins. Since then Joe Stowell averaged 15.2, Versace was 19.5, Albeck was 15, Molinari was 15.8, Les was 17.1 and so far Geno is 12.3.

bigjimmy ,I have to agree with you. Things that are posted on here today got a whole bunch of good posters banned to another board. This tread is entitled "Where are the hypocrites." I don't think we have to look very far. I'm not saying I disagree with everything that is said by some just the biggest majority. I've followed the Braves since the 57-58 season and can say I not happy with what we're seeing but I'm ready to let Geno finish his contract and hope he turns this thing around. I pull for the Braves every game and would love to see Geno right this ship and if doesn't well we all know what happens then. Just hope it doesn't come to that.

I have kept quiet about all of this, because I'm not sure how I feel. Thursday was a disaster, we all agree. We should have done a lot better. But it was only one game with irregular substitution patterns and two important guys out. I need a bit bigger sample size this season before I close the book of Geno, but I have no problem doing so if the level of play does not change dramatically. Quickly.

I agree with Wily that the posts this week are incredibly similar to those posted around five years ago, but it's DC's board, he can do what he wants.

I refuse to feed the posse on either side of the issue and waste any more time discussing the hypocrisy. Both sides are guilty of making a bigger deal out of one exhibition loss than the other.

OK, I agree that it one sense it was a meaningless exhibition. Let's see if there is improvement as the real games come.

But in your criticism of the board, you are wrong. There is a big difference between now and 4-5 years ago. Back then, for some people, it was not enough to criticize the team, and demand a coaching change. They repeatedly posted unacceptable attacks aimed at players, attacking them personally and calling them names and labeling them "not D1 material" (when some of those players later became All-MVC players!). And the personal attacks directed at the coach were even worse. But what most were banned for was their personal attacks and name calling directed toward other posters who disagreed with them.

Buesch, Wily- let me know if anyone attacks you personally, calls you names, or blames you for the sorry state that Bradley basketball is in. If you don't remember all those personal attacks, just let me know, because I can show you some of the worst of them, or you could just check out a certain thread on an another message board to see the unstable and delusional shots that people think they are cute to keep lobbing.

For those who haven't noticed, the people posting their dissatisfaction here with the program, are not some isolated kooks who don't contribute a dime to Bradley or who don't even attend games like many were 4 years ago. They include long time loyal fans who have attended Bradley basketball games for 40 to 50 years or more, fans who helped found and create the Braves Club (originally the Chiefs Club), fans who have donated thousands of hours of their time to volunteer at Bradley, multiple fans who have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the program, some fans who have purchased naming rights in the new facilities, fans who have attended more Bradley basketball games in the past 40 years than anyone not employed by Bradley, fans who represent corporate sponsors who have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars with Bradley and who have always stuck with BU even in the bad times, even members of the Bradley Board of Trustees, and of course, fans like you and me who were promised the program would be better, and would be competing for championships every year and now see that this year's team appears to be farther away from that goal than ever.

DC I agree that those guys making the posts you refer to should have been banned from here. I'm sure they are still around, only now they can only watch....

I was speaking more about the posts directly calling for a coaching change and people unhappy with the program. People back then who could form coherent sentences without being a hypercritical jack-pudding made valid points about the state of the JL program. And there were problems. The program isn't any better now, not light years, not light millimeters. The same valid points are being made. It's the people making them who are different.

I predict last Thursday's performance will be the worst one we see all year, by a significant margin. <fingers crossed>

You are a wise fan, and definitely not one of those this thread was directed at.
And I agreed, maybe we can all hope we just saw the worst of this season, and let's hope we got it out of our system.
But it is not just men's basketball. Every one of Bradley's marquee sports have underachieved, to be kind. We were promised the expectation that we'd compete for championships in every sport, every year. That is nowhere close to happening.

Looking forward- Texas Arlington should be a better test for this Bradley team, but they are a team we should beat easily.

Bradley people should be immensely thrilled that they have such a large, strong and passionate fan base -
treat them well - instead they don't seem to care what people think

Hey - nobody has ever played the
"our family have been lifelong fans and we deserve better from this University & we want a change"-card
any more or stronger than Kirk Wessler himself in demanding the firing of the prior coaches

Whether it's putting a quality team on the floor, field or court
whether it's cancelling all the time honored and successful events & traditions
whether it's punishing the very best faithful fans by yanking their seats from them and tripling the prices
...or whether they ignore the calls from the fans to schedule stronger, play better, avoid Thursday, or stop spending all the time recruiting kids who have serious deficiencies, are ineligible, or who have wasted an extra year but we didn't know about it.
Honestly - how do all these things happen on anyone's "watch" and there NO accountability, even though the fans are disappearing and becoming as scarce as G-rated movies...

We lost to f@#%ing Augustana. Period! I can't pretend to say I read all these comments, so all I will say is Grey Giovannie knew he would win. Read the PJSTAR. He said it before and after the game. He knew he was a better coach and had a better TEAM! It's time we ALL realize that we have excellent facilities, excellent fans, great alumni, but we have mediocre talent and a mediocre staff. Hopefully this staff and players can prove me wrong, but we just lost to Augustana guys. Blame it on whomever you like, we lost to Augustana! Ask yourself 3 questions regarding Year 4.
                        1. Who is our Junior or Senior star that this staff recruited and developed?
                        2. How is our fundraising and excitement level?
                        3. How is attendance?

My only quibble is that there seems to be a subtle message that the previous coach might have been better to keep. It was heading the wrong direction then too. Remember in his last has he lost to quincy in a exhibition. Also how has he done since leaving? I really don't know.
It would have been best to get a proven coach at this level instead of gf. ..I was sup port Barry Hinson but I'm sure there were other good ones available. Watch southern this year and decide if they chose correctly.
Geno was a proven coach he was back to back coach of the year awards in his previous conference ( not a flash in pan ) and achieved Nit quarter finals in a road vistory
What concerns me is why did he have so much success before and is strugling here?

he was only there at Kent State 3 years, never had an NCAA team, and had a bunch of player issues/arrests there as well-
you don't become a "proven head coach" in just 3 years playing mostly with the kids your predecessor recruited...
You can promote his credentials all you want - but a lot of fans knew at the time that he was our 8th or 9th pick among all the hiring candidates that were approached - and when you have to dip that low you are not getting a proven candidate
