IU Hoosiers - serious injury
Collapse
X
-
After multiple alcohol-related incidents with under-aged playes this past several months, now some former IU players and coaches are starting to question whether Tom Crean is running a renegade program
There have already been several media people who have taken shots-
-
LOL - come on - that's Dan Dakich talking -
Dakich has held a major grudge when he was dismissed from being interim head coach after Samspon was fired - and was not kept on staff by Crean...
he has made his own personal bias evident many, many times - so it is no surprise that he's firing shots now..
but remember this...
Dakich was one of the top guys in Kelvin Sampson's staff and actually took over as INTERIM HEAD COACH in February 2008 when Sampson was fired...and held that position until April when Crean was hired...
In that short interval Dakich presided over a program where all he** was breaking loose - nobody went to class, the players mutinied, they were all doing drugs and tearing up the campus - and every scholarship player on the team was run out of there for their impressively bad actions.
Crean may deserve some criticism but...Dakich has a lot of guts to go off on Tom Crean....as he was far from removed when IU had much greater problems

2 of the top players for IU Troy Williams and Stan Robinson have been suspended for failed drug tests.
Just days after a car accident left Indiana forward Devin Davis in the hospital, the Hoosiers program has taken another hit as Troy Williams and Stanford Robinson have been suspended for failed drug tests, sources told ESPN.
I am an Indiana fan as well as a Bradley grad, and it is time for Crean to go.

btw - here are more of Dan Dakich's words
"When did Indiana basketball start making excuses for guys out drinking
before the first time they face a public scrimmage?"
"Boys will be boys my ass. Indiana, you're supposed to win and you're
supposed to do it better."
"I don't want to hear 'Everybody drinks.' Everybody doesn't get to play
basketball in front of a fan base that loves you. … You're an Indiana basketball player."
"The guy that received his (candy stripes) went out the night before he's
going to play a scrimmage, drank and hit a teammate, whoever's fault it was."
"Why is he out drinking? Why are you out on the streets the night before
you're supposed to play?"
"Indiana is all talk. Indiana is all promotion. The candy stripe pants, the
whole deal is about promotion. It's not about being what Indiana basketball is about."
"Emmitt Holt got into school at the last minute and this is how he repays Tom Crean?"
"If I would have gotten caught drinking as a freshman. Randy Wittman
would have kicked the hell out of me. And so would have Ted Kitchel. ...
They might not have beaten me, but they would have made me feel so
embarrassed I wouldn't have done it."
"I would have the best contract law firm checking to see if this violated
Tom's contract."
"I don't hate Indiana. I'm not some 20-year-old punk who accepts
everything. I love Indiana basketball enough to say the things I'm saying."
"Indiana basketball is supposed to win and stand for something. Not the crap
you got from North Carolina and "The Carolina way" and that garbage. That
turned out to be such a fraud I can't even tell you.
"Not the garbage from Joe Paterno and 'The Grand Experience.' That's all
crap. Hey, Butler right now has a Butler way and they have a coach that
doesn't even want to coach the team.
"Indiana's never had a 'way." You know what Indiana's done? Indiana's just
done it the right way."
"I appreciate the former players who just texted me who are listening to this show."
"Indiana has made so many concessions to recruits it's ridiculous."
"This is a fan base that expects kids to do certain things because that's the way it is."
"This new school Indiana is absolute crap, and it has been since coach Knight got out of there."
"I'm speaking for a lot of former players when I say we're embarrassed by what's happening at Indiana."
BTW - Tom Crean is only one year removed from BACK-TO-BACK Sweet Sixteen appearances!!
IU fans must be having deja vu - they went thru the most horrid complete collapse & meltdown then rebuild in 2008-2011
..now they're probably looking at it all over again....

Both Devin Davis & Hanner Mosquera-Perea have been dismissed..
seems they really have a serious discipline problem at IU - Tom Crean coming under a lot of criticism..
But you have to wonder if the same discipline would have been dealt to the "stars" - as these two players have never been contributors...
The message sent from IU announcing the dismissals of Devin Davis and Hanner Mosquera-Perea on Thursday was succinct. It needed no further explanation.
btw- Hanner Mosquera-Perea was a Top 25, 5-star blue chipper out of La Lumiere, who has never lived up to the hype..
He has only one year of eligibility and can possibly transfer & sit out or he might have to go pro overseas or DII

I know this should go without saying but...
just maybe someone reading this will benefit.....
IF you are a college athlete - and you potentially can gain by landing 4 or 5 years of full scholarship just to play basketball (or other sport)...
Then refrain from blowing it all with stupid choices as outlined in the Athletic Code and Drug & Alcohol policies of every single school in the US.
Don't blame anyone else but yourself if you choose unwisely - you SIGNED the scholarship agreement that details your pledge to FOLLOW the rules and abide by the policies...
and please don't use the
"that's not fair",
"others do it and don't get caught",
"it didn't hurt anyone",
"everyone's doing it",
"you're naive if you think they're all not doing it", or
"it's even legal in some places"
If you don't want to risk getting disciplined, kicked out, or losing your scholarship then abide by the simple rules - otherwise be warned.

now that Indiana has freed up a couple more scholarships they are suddenly jumping into the Max Bielfeldt sweepstakes - probably offering guaranteed starting spot ..
won't be long that they're begging Josh Cunningham as well...

With the Indiana interest, I think Bradley's chances just dropped from fair to poor. When a recruit visits Indiana, they come away pretty impressed with their state of the art facilities nearly unmatched in D1, and the tradition, passion, and history that they can show the recruit. If INdiana offers, I think they become the leader.
