University of Illinois brand new basketball court damaged by flood

Uh oh -- brand new floor - just installed - we were just talking about their new floor & design on this other thread...

"A storm line blockage early Tuesday morning caused a backup of water on the floor at State Farm Center, damaging the basketball court."
"It won’t be known until later this week if the basketball court was damaged beyond repair."

hmmm...and it didn't rain at all so did someone clog the toilets with TP?

The damage is being blamed on a blockage of a storm sewer or storm drain line with resulting water backup filling the event level in the arena - with "a few inches" of water.

The actual playing surface is about 3-4 inches off the concrete floor - and the water level was approximately at the level of the playing court.
