if posting about not landing a kid is "trashing a coaching staff" then do you remember the record busiest day and some of the longest threads this board has ever seen when Matt Roth chose Indiana in 2007??

even to this date -that date in 2007 is one of the two busiest days in the in the history of the boards
I guess we'll shortly see how good our recruiting is - as we won't have a single holdover player left to either carry us or to blame

BTW - again in 2009 we lost a recruiting battle to Ohio and there were a few critical comments aimed at the coaching staff then also - it happens

Matt Roth going to Indiana and Gavin Block going to Ohio U are completely different beasts. I'm with Midstate, let's not bemoan the loss of an opportunity when the apparent consensus among college coaches is that he isn't of a Valley caliber. If he turns out spectacular then great. His list of offers being what it was, us taking a chance on him would be casting our lot on finding diamonds in the rough.

I'd rather Geno spend time on someone like DeShawn Delaney even if they make us their second pick, rather than get an early commitment from someone below our ability.

We will see if this is a blunder, but we won't be able to tell for several years. Hopefully it isn't.
    Gotta stop feeding the trolls.

Multiple sources, including Gavin himself, say that Bradley did offer him, for what it is worth. I am not privy to the inside dealings of the staff regarding recruiting, and "offers" come in a lot of ways. I would guess that maybe some of the other offers that Gavin listed in that article came with a requirement that he wait until spring to see how that school's scholarship situation works out, or some may have required a redshirt year, which a lot of schools ask of certain kids.

Personally, I have never considered Gavin a high-level recruit, so I don't bemoan him committing elsewhere, as long as we eventually get the talent to compete for a spot higher than 7th place in the MVC, which so far, we haven't.
In fact, I am not sure anyone is saying they are "upset". Can you cite where you saw someone actually say they were "upset" about losing Gavin? I think fans just want something substantive to get excited about. Not the over-the-top hype provided yearly by uninformed fans, or unrealistic media reports.

What I find hilarious is that some of the same people who ripped a recent coach for his recruiting and for "only winning 21 or 22 games" (while playing a far tougher schedule), winning NCAA and NIT games, having Top 40 RPI's, but "never finishing higher than 4th", are now having orgasms about our disappointing recruiting classes each year (which keep fizzling out with massive player turnover) and that never seem to get our RPI even close to 200 or produce a winning season, and without any meaningful wins.

Fans aren't stupid, and there are real reasons the attendance and donations are way down and have shown unprecedented declines, and keep going lower. The blame doesn't belong to anyone here or on any message board.

Speaking of the MAC conference - there's a site doing a countdown of the TOP 25 players in the MAC...
kinda interesting and I was thinking that one of the MVC beat writers ought to do this for the MVC, it would get a lot of extra press and interest in all the league's best players!

The 2014-2015 basketball season is around the bend, and Hustle Belt kicks off our Top 25 countdown of the best players in the MAC with the Huskies' versatile swingman.

I could give my opinion on the subject but I'd be a bit biased and the ISU guys would be ticked

Just a little followup on Gavin Block - who I would have loved to land - but he's headed to Ohio University

not much of a surprise - he's having a great senior season...his team is 18-4 and he's shooting very well from outside...
He is averaging 19.4 ppg and close to double-digit rebounds but helps his team win in other ways - he's just a proven winner..
ROCHESTER — Thanks to a little spark from Aron Hopp at the Rochester Athletic Complex, Lincoln High School didn’t suffer a repeat of its earlier Central State Eight Conference loss to Jacksonville. …

William Chrisman managed a split of Tuesday’s home wrestling duals against Lee’s Summit North and Staley. Against North, the Bears benefited from four forfeits in a 45-23 win. Adam Olsen (113 pound…

He has to have an offer first.
