That is what I have heard, as well. He has had some "run-ins" with administrators at the school and they want a change.

Champaign Central finally has chosen a boy's basketball coach to replace Sergio McClain, and in a bit of a surprise, they have named Jeff Finke head coach.
This is an interesting pick, since Jeff Finke is the father of Michael Finke (now a redshirt-freshman at Illinois) and freshman Tim Finke, and junior Nick Finke across town at Champaign Centennial. In fact, all his kids have attended Centennial HS.
As far as I can tell, Jeff Finke is a real estate agent in Champaign. He is a former football player at Illinois (he earned 4 letters as a football tight end, but did play 1 year of basketball) and he coaches part-time for the Peoria-based Irish AAU program. But I can't find that he has any coaching experience other than that. I realize Sergio didn't have many qualifications to get the job a year ago, either. But, if anyone knows more about his qualifications, or why he was picked, please post.

Will he have to give up his real estate business or will he have to teach at the school? And since his kids cannot play for him at Centennial, will they consider moving their residence so they can transfer there?

He was an assistant coach with Franklin Middle School in Champaign. They beat the Morton Eighth grade team at the state tourney this year.

Jeff won't be faculty, and will continue work in real estate. Tim will be allowed to attend Central, without the family moving their home.

To be a coach in the state of Illinois as is true in many states, you do not have to be employed by the school to be a coach. Back in the late 80's or early 90's, the Illinois made it legal to coach in Illinois at the elementary, middle or high school level, providing you had completed certification courses required by the State of Illinois. This was done due to a lack of coaches. There still is a lack of coaches but this has helped. There is also a tremendous need for referees and umpires.
