Oh my! I am shocked. This is a sad day for Bradley fans and all basketball fans in Illinois, and obviously for his family.

What is going on? Wayne is the third coaching legend to die this year in Il. First met Wayne when he was Coach Van's Asst. Always a pleasure to work for and with. He along with Chips Giovannia (Sp) and Chuck Rolinski will be missed in basketball circles in this state. R.I.P. Wayne

Wow. I am just shocked. I had heard he was sick but I didn't think it was that serious. Very sad.

I like your avatar deadguy. I've been a fan of Big Frank since the day I heard the White Sox drafted him.

I have heard through family that Wayne was sick for a while with a serious underlying problem leading up to the pneumonia, but he insisted on continuing to coach, which he loved to do. Condolences to the family.

McLain died of complications of lung cancer

                  Per his son Sergio McClain:
"My dad had lung cancer and he didn??™t tell anybody,??? Sergio McClain said early Wednesday evening inside Central??™s west gym. ???He had it for two years. Nobody knew, not even my mom knew. Him and his doctor knew.???

Champaign Central HS has named Sergio McClain, son of Wayne, as their interim head coach.

Sergio's coaching experience includes a brief stint as player-coach in the ABA and head coach of the men's basketball program at Parkland College in Champaign from 2008 - 2009.

Sergio McClain finished the season 15-13 as head coach at Champaign Central.
But the Champaign Central AD opened up the job for applicants and as of the date of this article (4/4/15) they have received 41 applications. He acknowledged that Sergio McClain did apply. However, I have heard it is unlikely he will get the job.

Sergio won't be considered. I have heard that Jeff Finke wants the job, and would bring his son, Tim, with him.
