the article says "one of seven newcomers"...
but wouldn't Shaw be considered a newcomer, too - thus we have eight who are wearing the BU uniform for the first time
(Thomas, Jones, Sutherland, Kane, Amerson, Cunningham, Morgan, Shaw)

Matter of semantics I think. Shaw was on the team last year, this guy makes the seventh guy new to the official roster.

As noted in Bobby's article, Jackson Kane played at Monmouth-Roseville HS, then spent his freshman year at Bradley as a team manager. He played at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa last season, and was a teammate of Bradley junior Warren Jones.

It's not that he was ineligible, he was a team manager, so not on the roster.

Mike shaw meanwhile was officially listed on the team web page, had a jersey/his own number, and was included in the team picture, things Kane wasn't. That is why they are saying he is a new comer. New to the web page at the very least.

OK...I guess it's whatever people want to define, but a lot of sources have been referring to Shaw as a newcomer this year, and including him with all the other newcomers - LINK
...and Grier and Anthony Fields were hailed as newcomers last year after they had sat out their redshirt year by the exact same source that doesn't count Shaw as a newcomer this year....
PEORIA, Ill. ? Bradley Basketball completed is 2013 recruiting class Tuesday when 6-foot-9 post player Xzavier Taylor made his commitment official by returning his signed NLI to the school.

With a near 4:1 assist to TO Ratio
